Default Thank you NISSAN! Dealer abuse curbed!

Decided to take a stroll to my dealer today to discuss my 350Z. All my prior trips have been riddled with poor customer service and blank stares. Well today my dealer was singing a different tune for some reason. He invited me into his office for the first time and was very interested with sharing as much information as he could. I thought it was very strange because prior he was extremely rude to me! Turns out Nissan is performing some serious audits on dealers in the form of pre-order questionaires. All my wierd requests to not have my car buffed and al that was now viewed as "completely within" the bounds.

Still no information on my order besides a serial number which does me next to nothing but give me the last 6 numbers of the VIN. Just want to say thanks Nissan for following through with quality assurance spot checks and pre-order surveys. It's good to know you are serious about keeping the pre-order crew well serviced. Deserving since we made the commitment to you... glad you stepped up and made the commitment to us.

My dealer had service and a smile today - I'll have a Z and a smile tomorrow.

Oh boy, oh boy! Let me have one of those surveys. I want a copy in my hands when I go in to pick up my car. May be the only leverage I have.

If anyone does get a copy of the survey, please post it. I'm sure even an unsolicited survey which showed a dealer gouging a pre order customer could bring a bit of attention to that dealer.

If it's a dealer issue I'd probably remind the dealer that he's going to be surveyed by Nissan - I'd let him know you are going to be as honest as you can in regards to the service you recieved from him. If it's with Nissan *shrug* - talk to Nissan customer service. I know dealers out there are abusing people... Don't let one or two bad apple spoil the bunch.

I'm telling you, these dealers must live and die by these surveys because when I was debating with them about that damn dealer prep charge, that's all they kept mentioning. "We want you to be happy when you get your survey".

I just bought a Jeep Wrangler for my wife (figured I was getting what I wanted and she always wanted a Jeep so....) and the salesman told me that his "rating" with Chrysler relied on how buyers rate him in this post buying survey. He had all these plaques in his office with bronze silver and gold emblems on them. He showed me (with pride) his three consecutive gold ones and then they dropped off back to bronze. When I asked about that, he said that he had some health problems and was off work for 6 months and he dropped off. He said he needed good surveys to get back up to gold again. I mean, this guy REALLY wanted it. He mentioned the survey to me and my wife like 5 times. He then called us twice to ask how the car was and if we got the survey yet.

I think it really carries some weight!

Are you saying the R, S, or T numbers we are getting are the last 6 digits of the VIN#?

Same here, that's why I was asking 3rdpower what he meant. My S Number and my VIN # aren't even close.

My dealer called me this morning and only had the last 6 digits of my VIN, which is the serial number portion. It is different than my S tracking number. I believe this is really the only unique portion of the VIN other than the check digit and hense the important part.

He also acknowedged an email I sent him last month asking them not to attach the front licence plate braket.

It'd be nice to have the remaining piece though I'd like to personally get an updated insurance quotation .

My guess is that those survey's are tied to their year-end bonuses.

Wow, I cannot believe what I am hearing about dealers, I think it may just be in the area I live. I think some parts of the country people have no idea about customers service. My Nissan Dealership is Lancaster Nissan in Lancaster, PA. My salesman, Lee Greenawalt, has been fantastic. I am constantly getting updates and he'd send articles. The minute they got a pamplet in that showed the spoiler and stuff on the Track model a while back he made a copy and sent it over to me. I'll be interested to see how the service is, but I'll be it will be excellent as well. Could be the area. My mustang and porsche dealers are great with service and everything. I took my Mustang Cobra in for an oil change, and they freak'n cleaned the outside and inside and my sales guys saw me coming, went out and drove the car around front for me. He calls me up the first day they have a 03 Cobra, so I can take it out for test drive. When I got into the porsche dealership for service, they're always leaving me stuff like keychains, pens, model cars etc with the porsche logo and such on. Maybe I just picked an area to live in where customers actually matter. I figure with all the dealer bashing, some of them need to be given some credit.

This kinda service and there's no way I am talking to any other sales people. You guys gotta tell your dealers to get a freak'n clue and learn how to actually do business.

My dealer has been amazing too! In the beginning, he sent me a 350Z t-shirt. He then mailed me an article about the Z that appeared in a local newspaper. The president of the dealership sent me, last week, an update on his dealer meeting in California, and his impressions of the car.

I received my S# early. On August 1st, I got a call from my dealer with my VIN# and ETA. Then I called him yesterday to confirm my delivery since I'm going away. I asked him about this 3 day window I kept hearing about and made sure that he wasn't going to sell it out from underneath me and he responded, "NO way! That's *your* car!". So I figure I'm pretty safe with my dealer. I also told him to leave the front brackets off of the car, and told him that I didn't want any dealership stickers on my car - he told me that was no problem, and promptly wrote it on my order form. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones out there that has had a good dealer.

All VIN will be the same except the last six digits.....unless of course Nissan decide to build the cars in a different plant someday.
