Default TCS: how does it affect the performance?

if we have 2 stock A/T 350z, 1 with TCS on and the other with TCS off.

for 1/4miles, how is it going to affect the run?

note: i'm not encouraging any street racing. races belongs to the track.

thnx

It doesn't affect performance. It's there to prevent wheel slip. If your rear wheels start to spin, then TCS will cut power.

You usually want to turn traction control off, if you want ***** out performance... If your gonna gun it in the first, second, or third gear your tires are probably going to break loose or "squeal."

If the comp. detects a slip in the wheels then it will cut the throttle, thus losing some time and acceleration.

For drag racing I turn TCS OFF. TCS will kill the car if it is ON at the starting line.

For autocross TCS is OFF. Coming out of a corner a little tire spin is OK. Again with TCS ON it will kill the motor.

thnx.. i didn't mean to say that it will affect the performance in particular, but the outcome power for a 1/4mile..

at first, i thought that preventing wheel slip (TCS on) = to a better grip and a head start, but it wasn't. actually it was loosing some torque on 1st and second gears..

with wheel spinning from a dead start, we lose some time (probably a second or fraction of a second), without the wheel spinning (TCS on) we lose the jump as well.. but i don't know how can we compare the time lose in both situations.

i don't know if anyone tried this before, but would love to see some test results on both situation.

thnx

I have inadvertently left TCS ON. The results are poor. Poor enough never to do it again.

leave tcs off and learn to launch the car.
tcs delays power for wayyy too long when it detects spin

Anyway to turn the TCS off permanently? I try doing burn outs and no luck. I've heard there's a switch behind the brake pedal, any truth to that?

burnouts can be done once the TCS is off.. switching off the car and back on will turn on the TCS on again. i don't know about permanently switching it off.

I dont think there is a way to switch it permanently off. I remember a thread on here where a guy cut the wire for the tcs, and it was permanently off, but when he tried to reconnect it to sell the car, it wouldnt turn back on.

Re: TCS, I know KPtechnologies on this board sells a module that will allow you
to have it be off by default when you start the car.

However, if you are trying to do a burnout by gunning it and holding the brake, the problem is actually that the car cuts power if you are pressing the gas and brake pedal at the same time. To [temporarily] remedy this, you will have to take out your brake light fuse.

i may be wrong but i think you would rather the vlsd take car of the wheel spin. Also to execute a hasty u turn, the tcs must be off. just $.02

Always turn the TC off for drag racing....I forgot to turn it off one time while doing a burnout in the water box and when I shifted to 2nd I could barely get the wheels to spin.
