TCS: how does it affect the performance?
if we have 2 stock A/T 350z, 1 with TCS on and the other with TCS off.
for 1/4miles, how is it going to affect the run?
note: i'm not encouraging any street racing. races belongs to the track.
thnx

You usually want to turn traction control off, if you want ***** out performance... If your gonna gun it in the first, second, or third gear your tires are probably going to break loose or "squeal."
If the comp. detects a slip in the wheels then it will cut the throttle, thus losing some time and acceleration.

For drag racing I turn TCS OFF. TCS will kill the car if it is ON at the starting line.
For autocross TCS is OFF. Coming out of a corner a little tire spin is OK. Again with TCS ON it will kill the motor.

thnx.. i didn't mean to say that it will affect the performance in particular, but the outcome power for a 1/4mile..
at first, i thought that preventing wheel slip (TCS on) = to a better grip and a head start, but it wasn't. actually it was loosing some torque on 1st and second gears..
with wheel spinning from a dead start, we lose some time (probably a second or fraction of a second), without the wheel spinning (TCS on) we lose the jump as well.. but i don't know how can we compare the time lose in both situations.
i don't know if anyone tried this before, but would love to see some test results on both situation.
thnx

I dont think there is a way to switch it permanently off. I remember a thread on here where a guy cut the wire for the tcs, and it was permanently off, but when he tried to reconnect it to sell the car, it wouldnt turn back on.

to have it be off by default when you start the car.
However, if you are trying to do a burnout by gunning it and holding the brake, the problem is actually that the car cuts power if you are pressing the gas and brake pedal at the same time. To [temporarily] remedy this, you will have to take out your brake light fuse.
