350z lawsuit
I got the letter yesterday. I had the tires replace by the dealer at 18K. I now have 75K on the car and have been through at least three sets of tires. How am I going to benefit from this?
I am an atorney, and I am definitely opting out.
I guess the plaintiffs have not been able to show a strong case because the offer is really low.
A discount card for replacing the tires at the dealer with no fix for the wear problem is the same as nothing to Nissan if you take on account the markup of the tires and the expense already by the car owners. I have been through 2 tire sets and my car is 44K miles.
Last week I aligned my car and the technician told me that my car's geometry is near the specs limits and that in the future I will need a caster camber kit. Beleave me, I do not punish my car as some of the kids I see on the streets.

I experienced the front tire "growl" about 6 months after I bought my 2003. I checked the tires and found the feathering. I took it to my local dealer who realigned my front suspension at no cost to me. (They were aware of the bad reputation that the Z was getting.) Since that time, I haven't had any further problems, so I guess I'll opt out.

Sure, that's not exactly what it says, but that's how I read it.
Opting out is easy. They even tell you how. Send a short letter to:
Settlement Administrator
PO Box 2909 Farmington Hills, MI 48333-2909
The letter should start with:
Nissan 350Z Cases, Judicial Council Coordination Proceeding No. 4421
Add your name, address, and telephone number. Then one short statement:
Please exclude me from the Settlement Class in the 350Z Litigation.
You don't even have to say why.
Sign and date it. Send it by April 29.

A $150 rebate on OEM tires to fix a factory issue that should never have been a problem to begin with. Haha, oh wow.
Opting out only because I'm getting a new set of wheels and tires very soon.

They give you 5 choices they say if you do nothing you give up the right to sue on these claims later. If you opt out of the settlement you keep your right to file your own lawsuit. I could care less about the $150.00 but it looks they are trying to buy you off cheap if there is more to the front end problem.
I was going to opt out of the settlement.

I'm curious what the attorney costs were in this. Often it says in the letter of settlement.

So they won't oppose paying the lawyers over a miilion bucks, but they won't buy me a new set of tires. Nice!
Im the second owner of a 2003, I wonder if a replacement of tires by the original owner, and then myself counts as two. I took the stock rims off and still have the deformed front tires.
When I first started reading the letter, I was pretty enthusiastic that someone was finally taking Nissan to task for this unforgivable defect. However, upon completely reading the letter, I was disappointed to say the least.
I need to get my law degree, then I can make these big attorney fees, without actually getting anything of substance for the people involved.

I got the same letter but I sold my 2003 Z last year. I did spend a good deal of $$$ correcting this issue with tire replacements and alignments when I had the car. I guess I'm SOL huh?
