I listen to XM everyweek because I have to travel and rent Avis cars. I LOVE xm. LOVE LOVE LOVE. I want to get it in my 03 Touring 350Z but I dont' want to use the FM modulator.

I know the 04's are XM capable, so I'm wondering if theres just something I can have plugged in to make it work.

Nothing wrong with the XM FM modulator. I have a Pioneer XM unit in my Z and it sounds fantastic. At least CD quality if not better.

Meh... XM is nowhere near the quality of a well-made CD. I've got it in the Murano (direct connection) as well as the Maxima (FM-modulated). Direct connection sounds an incredible amount better, and it is just shy of being CD-quality. I was listening to XM in the Murano one day, and a Bob Dylan song came up. I listened to it, and then popped in the Dylan CD and played the same song from there. Definite difference. The tonal quality and frequency range are both broader on a CD, but other than that its barely noticable.

XM rules.

I had XM before, now I have Sirius. They both sound about the same, but the Sirius stations play MUCH better music. They seem to know what I want to hear.

I recommend Sirius.

They have similar stations, but Sirius seems to be more in tune with what I want to hear.

When I listen to the metal/indie/hip hop stations, and they seem to touch on a lot more of what I want to hear on Sirius. Now for news/blues/rock/etc there about equal. Sirius just does the more "underground" stuff a lot better, which is why I have satellite, to hear things that I won't hear on regular FM radio and things I might not have on CD.

I got XM in my 03 with an Alpine modulator and it sounds great. The atenna is mounted on the rear srtut bar out of sight and the modulator box is hidden under the shelf in the glove box. As far as listening to certain stations. If I am not listening to the BPM station (techno) then I am listening to the XM comedy station. It is non-stop funny *** sh*t 24-7, form crank-yankers to stand-up kings like Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Sam Kinnison, Andrew Dice clay, etc. It does not come in as clear as a CD in my opinion but is waaaay better than regular FM radio.

I'm cheap and use the Roady with cassette adaptor and put the antenna on the strut bar. Sounds great! My favorite stations are XM Comedy, 70's.Heart, and Caricia(spanish love songs.
