Nope, this is a long drawn out creaking squeal...I know the sound every car makes when the engine is shutoff and the exhaust system is cooling down and this isn't it.

I haven't really paid attention to the Z as of late, since I'm renting right now I'm busier with running numbers on a new car. Once I pick up a new ride, then I'll have time to focus on this with the gauntlets off.

I did place the appointment call the day before I took it in. I don't know if that will have any bearing on this.

Actually that will have a big effect for you. If you report the issue when you are still covered and tried to bring it in but they shifted to you the day after it expired? Yeah, they need to cover that stuff. Let us know if we can help you out man. This is bad business on Nissan's part I would think. There is a manager/supervisor that can OK the repairs I can promise you that.

Actually, I called to schedule the appointment for the next day not knowing my warranty expired.

You need to get a detailed description from the mechanic showing his diagnosis. Short of a cracked block I can't imagine what would require a whole new motor. At the worst it can be rebuilt.

Possibilities: 1. A "new"--rebuilt--one. 2. Rebuild the one you've got. 3. Search lemmon law(s) for your state. 4. Seek warranty for the LAST engine provided by Nissan. 5. Search for a new Nissan engine elsewhere (i.e. cheaper than $9k; could be a used one by a Zed owner that's selling a junker!) Blessings on your search, guy--you'll need them!

Here is another thought, most speedometers are off, if in the right direction, you may not have reached the miles, if its the date, that's another thing. I think that it was Honda that got sued over that and extended the warranty period 2%.

Either way that sucks, and reading my Gold Plan, I can't see anything that is actually covered under it. I got it from the last owner, but I doubt if I would buy one and I doubt if I will buy another Nissan anything. Reading the crap that the dealerships do, its not worth the BS to drive a Nissan. Lucky, I can buy anything I want. I bought the 04 with 24K on it and only have 29K on it in 11 months, but If I start having problems, its gone.

+1 on take it to another dealership. I work at an acura Dealership and we get tons of people who were not good willed some where else and we good will them. Most dealerships will do almost anything to take business from a competitor and get more customers
