Default Buying my First 350Z... Please help.

Couple questions, I know I'll have more later but please help.

1. Anyway to tell the trim package from the VIN number of the car? (JN1BZ34E67M552212)

2. What are the differences in the 2007 trim models? I searched the forums and have found the differences in the 2006 models but I heard they are different for 2007 and up. Please help. Base vs. Enthusiast vs. Touring.

3. Are those things (VDC) (TCS) and such really needed that come with the touring or well the better models?

1. no

2. look again, they are there. if not sure go to nissanusa.com and look them up yourself

3. you will get them whether nor not you want them, no choice in the matter. most people turn them off but then cry later when their car spins out and wrecks because they can not drive.

It is truly amazing how people refuse to look for themselves. Use search button please. Or at the very least stay on the forum for a month before you post because most newbie questions are answered in that time period.

EDIT: I just saw that you're from Ontario, I'm originally from Toronto too. I'm working and schooling in Wichita, Kansas. If I remember correctly Canada doesn't offer many trim levels. Your stuck with either a Grand Touring Coupe or Grand Touring Roadster. It's on the website also =)

Hey bro, I don't mean to be an ***, but if you go to a Nissan Dealership in your area and ask for a 350Z booklet it'll help out a lot. Trim packages are all listed all the Nissan website. The booklet I got from the dealership explains a lot about the Z (towards the back) only. The rest if filled with pictures which I looked at daily while pulling a #2 in the washroom.

Anyways, I have a 2007 Touring and well I love it. The leather powered seats are comfortable and the bluetooth comes in handy.

Not a fan of the Bose system at all, but I am planning to get a Pioneer Avic-D3

Hope I've helped and again I didn't mean to come off as an ***.

I have both vdc and tcs and never use them ever. If your not gonna mod your car that much then maybe you them or if you have never had a rear wheel drive car then you should leave them on. My traction control isnt a fan of high horsepower

I'm in the same boat as andrewkm1. I'm looking at used 2007s here and on auotrader. com and cars.com. . . but I have a hard time figuring out which model some of the advertised cars are.

For instance, I think a few folks/dealers may be selling Enthusiast or Touring models and not advertising them as such.

I know that the buttons on the steering wheel mean that the car is not a base - at least I think that is the case, and that leather seats are found in a Touring model, I'm not really sure how to ID an Enthusiast.

I saw this description in the post in the 100 most common questions thread (post https://my350z.com/forum/showpost.ph...postcount=32):

Enthusiast: TCS button on lower dash below steering wheel, cloth seats but no heater switches for seats. AT or MT. 17" wheels.

But I have no idea what or where the TSC and heater switches are. Any pointers??

Second question: which department at a dealership can look up a VIN to verify the trim level? Sales, service or parts? Is it a real PITA to do or can it be done in just a minute?

TIA.

you see alot of enthusiast models and touring models out there

DO NOT BUY A BASE MODEL

they are to the left of the steering wheel, a little below the point where the dash curves toward you, a little un noticeable but if you can find the button to open the gas lid its right above there

The book from the dealer was the most looked at information I have ever had my hands on. I put money down on my Z, looking at the book helped me through the week of waiting to pick it up. I still look at the line folder. All the model specs are there.

Be careful on assuming which model you are looking at. I just bought an 04.5 ZR with heated leather seats, 18" rims and the upgraded bose system. I just assumed it was a touring model. To the credit of the salesman he told me it was an enthusiast. It did not have VDC, but it did have TCS. No VDC=enthusiast. Vin was no help.

Like someone said earlier, if you get a 350z booklet from the dealer, it'll have a page where all the difference between the trims are charted out. As far as I know, the 07 and the 08 models are identical so you can go off the books for the 08. Plus the book gives you some pretty pictures to look at
