My New Z owned by a 18 wheeler
thnx for all the tips/sympathy peopl. AS far as damage goes the rear quarter panel, bumper, and obviously the rim will have to go but ya u r right i got pretty lucky with where he hit me. I think the suspension is fine, i still drive it sometimes and i dont here any noises except when the tire hits the bent up wheel gap under accel/right turns. Every1 keeps tellin me to hammer up the points in the wheel gap but i havnt had the will to take a hammer to my 2 week old Z yet =/ I thought about maybe gettin some goodies out of this, is it really legal to use that money towards something else? i didnt realize that. With the insurance situation the driver told me that ups likes to keep accidents on the hush and would prob take care of me if i called and bitched but isnt it too late for that now that there is a police report filed etc? My other problem is that my father is stubborn and has a relationship with this guy who owns a lil gas station/garage and is tryin to make me take it there rather than a reputable shop like the 1 risk suggested, i dunno even if i get some rims or a kit or sumthin out of this its just a shitty situation.

Wow...wow! Glad you're okay. Hate to see that happen to a fellow DB track. You are very lucky it didn't blow out the tire!

1st, feel free to goto your insurance company to let them know what happened then goto UPS. You always have the police report to back you up. Second, you need to get an estimate from a garage like at the Nissan dealership if you dont know of any other really good body shops.
I have ALOT of experience with this (sadly), and where you get it fixed is up to you. I'll tell you what though, I sure as hell wouldn't let the guy at the corner gas station do it!!

Yes, you can go to the most expensive place in town and get the estimate done. After that where you actually go to get it repaired is up to you. I would go to a Benz or BMW place or something else expensive, as they pay their bodymen more, thus more labor.
Holy **** man, that looks like my Z...
Blue, track rims, and I drive on Route 4 on a practically daily basis... sorry to hear about it.
Let us know how the insurance goes... btw how much you paying a month? And what deductible ?

Yeah sure it's totally kosher to buy whatever you want with the settlement money. It's your car and your money. The insurance company has to pay the same either way.
I had a brand new (well many months old) '86 CRX Si back in the day. One day I hit a concrete curb at 45MPH. It broke a piece off my wheel, put the strut tower into the hood, and a lot of lower body damage.
The insurance company and dealer worked out the details to get it fixed. After that was complete I went to the dealer with a Car and Driver, pointed at some new wheels, and said "put four of these on instead of buying a new wheel from Honda."
When I got my car back, it had the new wheels, and looked sweet. I just had to pay a litle bit for the difference between the insurance payout and the cost of the wheels.

I wasn't pushy enough, I think I was in shock. I also didnt notify my insurance yet so Ill straighten all that out tom. hopefully.
