Did anyone else get some smoke and mirrors when told the date of the arrival of their cars. I ordered in April and was told my car would be coming in August. That is way before I found this great site, and learned so much more about the pre-order program.

I do feel a little cheated about how my deal was handled. I am unsure of when my car will be arriving, but doesn't look to be august or even september now. My "tailpipe" is hot from the smoke they blew up there!!

 

The dealers are only given allocations for ordering. Nissan gives an ETA on orders. However, they routinely change/revise dates on ALL Nissans delivered to the dealership. There is NO guarantee that any of the cars will actually arrive on their scheduled date. Some may be late, some may show up early. Nissan did revise dates of the first arrivals to the first week of September.

25 years is correct. Even in human years. 1978 was the last year model. 1979-1996 were ZXs. No, they are not real Zs. Nissan put that crappy rear suspension on in 1979 and they went downhill from 1978. Sure, the ZXs had some good qualities but they had lost the original intent of the Z. They finally priced themselves out of the market in 1996.

Well now the Z is back. With the intent they had from 70-78; Make a nice sports car at a reasonable price.

Yes, it is very unfortunate that some dealers do not tell the truth. However, as I said, dealers are given a certain number of allocations (available cars) at a certain time. Nissan dictates when the orders can start to be placed and when the last day of the order can be placed. If a dealer has already ordered his allocation for the month he may have to wait until his next available allocation. In general, dealers are only allowed certain percentages of there order per trim level. For example, a dealer cannot order all his Altimas in the SE trim level.

As for the Z, Florida dealers had 2 allocations. They had to put their orders in via computer between a certain date range, for each allocation. Nissan did push back the dates for delivery on the Z of even the cars that were ordered on the first day order could be placed. Most dealers were given the VINs for their first allocation about 2 weeks ago. It is possible that a dealer told you you were getting your car in the "first batch" when in fact they had already sold their allotment for the first allocation. He would have then "sat on your order" as you said until the second allocation became available.

At this point the best thing to do is be happy you are getting your new car and you will enjoy it. Dwelling on what a dealer did will only taken away from the feeling that you will get being only one of a few people in your area with a 350Z.
