Default Just bought an 03 350Z first night blown motor

I picked up a Nissan 350z from a used car dealer last night, car ran fan but grinded in 3rd gear. Dealer said he would get it taken care of on saturday. I drive the car off the lot, less than 50 miles since I picked it up and I was going 60mph and motor blows, threw a rod.

Car has warranty, should I get new motor and possible tranny or should I get my money back.

Very disappointed since I looked so forward to this car.

I'm not really sure how a rod would just fail on an NA VQ35DE unless it was oil starved.

Even in the case it is oil starved, I just picked up the car its still the dealers fault.

Sounds like you did no research into the history of the car. That type of problem just doesn't happen all of a sudden on a NA car. Maybe it was boosted once and stripped of parts or you messed something up driving it. how many miles on the car?

I'd opt for my money back or another 350Z once a car starts having things like the engine & tranny go wrong sometimes unless you are handy with a wrench you are constantly fixing things on it. Signs that it might have been dogged out pretty bad before the original owner traded it in.

One of the Z's strong point is it's engine. It's only been a day I asked for my money back or another car. Tell them you don't have time to wait for them to fix that 350Z , bc its a POS.

Had my 05 for two years and zero problems, often drive past 130mphs. The Engine a bad mtf stock imo.

Keep it if they are going to get you a fresh motor and tranny.

i would really be surprised if a used car dealear just roles over and gives the OP a new car or money back. I had a used car dealer once look my dead in the eye and say he will never give me my money back. He wouldn't start seeing things my way until i got a lawyer. Good luck

Get rid of that one and get a new one. Or get them to pay for an RB26DETT swap, .
