LOL at the LHD = different suggestion! Due to that very fact actually, the car will have terrible resale value in Japan if/when he decides to sell it. And shipping it twice would just be way more hassle than its worth IMO...
Besides, are LHD cars even legal in Japan?

Alright...to answer everybody's questions. I wanted to ship my car to Japan because I do want to be different with a USDM Z. Its not costing anything for me to ship it....Im in the military stationed at Yokota AB right now. Fortunately it is the only base in Japan that will allow me to ship a car from the states to here. Military is paying for it....so why not do it?
I could get a R33.....your right. It does cost around 15k to 19k. I already looked into it. I even look at what cars I could possibly bring back to the states too. The only year model skylines I can bring back to the states is the R33 Skyline GT-R between the year models of 96-98. So yeah my options are kind of short. The Skyline GT-R here in Japan is dime a dozen. Every corner you turn.....there is another GT-R. Shoot....just right outside the main base gate some Japanese guy has a brand new 2008 GT-R just parking there on the side street. Skylines here in Japan are like civics. You see them everywhere! I like a car that has rarity to it. I dont see 350Z(FairladyZ) on every corner here. So it is a plus. Besides...if I do end up selling my 350Z here in Japan, I think the Japanese will have a kick driving a LHD car. So I dont think my resale value for my car will be bad. They are still selling 2004 models here for 24k plus. And its all stock. The R34 Skylines here GT-R models go for 50k+. So that is way out of my budget.

Oh yea...The S15. That car cost just barely under 15k here. It looks nice and all, but if I were to pay that much...I would just go with the GT-R. They do have the S13 and S14 that I could buy for a reasonable price of under 5k. But every single one I looked at has a exhuast that sounds like a retarded civic driving past you.
Being different is always good. Besides....I miss my Z anyways.

Fail!
I lived in Japan for 4 years and you are going to have to get a JCI inspection as soon as you get there, and if it does not pass, you dont drive it. Little crap like the steering wheel on the left side might be an issue. If you think your going to get there and drive your car your in for a wake up call. Very long process to get all the paper work in order to drive a USD car overthere, and every 2 years you have to get this inspection. Not worth it at all.
As far as the Japs buying your car... Dream on kid! The last thing they want to do is hassle with turning it into a non Y "Yankee" plate.

you must bring a car over there, so you can bring one back,
the key is to get a beater you won't care about leaving behind (or something you can swap a jap engine into like a 240sx)
or take classic muscle over there, sell that to a japanese collector.

The JCI inspection is not a big deal. If a guy with huge FORD F-250 with a Lift Kit on it can bring his truck over here...so can I. Its a Japanese made car....So why would it not pass? I would like to learn more on why you think it would not pass. I've seen GMC envoy's, Escalades, USDM S2000, Trailblazer here at yokota. They are all Left hand drive. And with the Z still being new as it is...the JCI is every 3 years. Did my research already. Anything else you would like to throw in there???

Ok with the Nitrous....Im going to pull that. So not a big issue. Everything...mostly stealth mods. If you open the hood the only thing you will see different is the pulley and JWT popcharger.
