VIN Number Question???
Just have a simple question regarding the VIN number on the Z's. Does anybody know what the letters and numbers stand for in the VIN Numbers. For example, if the vehicle has a VIN of : JN1AZ34D13T118860, does this mean that this is the 118860 Z produced in America, or does it mean that it is the 118860 Specific Z (i.e. Touring) made, or something to that extent. Considering purchasing a Z in the near future and would like to know in advance of what these numbers and letters mean. Thanks for your input!!!

Actually I did alot of research on this and found an important fact!
The serial number is really only the last 5 digits on the VIN. The first number of the last six digits refers to airbags (along with the D or E embedded within the VIN). So 10234 would be the 234th car produced, while 013255 would have been the 13255th car.

The first number denotes weather you have side air bags or not.. Your Vin is 118860 which means you don't have side air bags and your car is # 18860. My VIN is 001890 which means I have side air bags and my car is # 1890. There is no way to tell what model you have (touring, track etc.) by the VIN number..

I don't think you can tell by VIN number but I'm 99% sure cars built after Feb 2003 have the newer amp. You can check the sticker inside the door frame on the drivers door to find your build date..

I have the full set of airbags including the side curtain airbags and my VIN SN is 007360.
My car arrived in the US in 12/03 if I remember correctly, and I picked it up early January.

Buub.. What doesn't compute?? YThe first digit of 6 in your VIN starts with 0 ( 007360) which is the same as mine (001890). We both have the optional side curtain air bags.. If your VIN had started with 1 (example: 107360), it would mean you only have the in-dash air bags..
