At the end of May, I drove from Ithaca, NY to Seattle, WA in my Z. Altogether the trip was 3387 miles and took me 7 days. I averaged 57 mph, 23 mpg, and hit a top speed of 145. I didn't get any speeding tickets (thank you Valentine One!). Instead of taking I-90, I stuck to 2 lane highways, and spent much of the trip on US Route 20. Overall the trip was a blast.
Some of the best driving was in NW Illinois on route 20. There were lots of curves, no cops, and not too many other cars. Nebraska was good for high speeds, but the scenerey gets a little monotonous after a while. I was in such a daze at one point that when I went to fill up I accidentally put in 85 octane fuel. I tried to find someone to pump it out, but I ended up just buying some octane boost from the local Wal-Mart and being on my way. Luckily, I was heading up into the mountains in South Dakota, but it was still pretty stupid of me. I didn't hear any pings though so I should be ok.
I stopped at Mt. Rushmore, and then drove into Wyoming. North Wyoming is quite mountainous and the roads here were a ton of fun. I headed into Yellowstone, then down to Jackson and from there over into Idaho. Idaho was fun for hitting high speeds, but I didn't get back into the twisties until Route-26 in Oregon. The roads there were great, and if you're anywhere near them, they're definitely worth finding. I then headed to Portland to drop off a friend who came along for the trip, and took good ole boring I-5 up to Seattle.
I didn't see another Z the whole trip, but I did see a nice ferrari in Chicago, which I suppose trumps my Z
. I also discovered that it is impossible to set the cruise control above 90 mph. Finally, I was remarkably comfortable the whole trip. I've seen a lot of posts saying the Z's seats weren't comfortable for long trips, but my passenger and I were fine the whole way.
I've attached some pictures from the trip below, so I hope you all enjoy them. If you like these, there are some more up at www.bohltec.com

Fabulous road trip man, makes me jealous! Those pictures are sweet as well.
I grew up in Ithaca, N.Y.! So I can appreciate your starting location
I drove from Greenwood Lake, N.Y. to Chicago just the other day, the Z is definately road trip worthy provided you don't mind a bit of a hard ride (which I don't). Seats are just fine for long hauls!
Grats on the trip!

I made a trip back in 1976 with my 260Z from New York City to San Franscisco, down the coast to LA and back to New York in 12 days.. We put 8420 miles on the car.. It was a fantastic trip.. Driving the PCH down to LA was a dream.. I would love to do it again in the 350Z.
We drove I-80 all the way to the end at the Oakland Bay Bridge..And came back on I-40.. I did 95% of the driving as my wife can't drive a stick.. I let her drive as we went thru the Bonneville salt Flats.. She worked the clutch and I worked the stick.. Really funny..
I just drove from Dobbs Ferry, NY (20 miles north of NYC) to Dayton Ohio & back in 4 days.. We put 1425 miles on the car and averaged 71 MPH and almost 29 MPG on the trip.. Not too bad..
Oh yes.. great pictures..
Steve (k2we) Dobbs Ferry, NY 10,515 miles since Sept 17th...

Great adventure and very nice pictures. I might get a chance to drive from Los Angeles to Montreal and back. Do you think I can do it in 10 days?
