VDC should not effect straight line acceleration but TCS certainly would.

Porsche Boxster S RWHP is 213-218.

5.8 to 60 sounds high

There is no seperate on off button for each one and the way Nissan's system works the TCS is an integral part of the VDC.

For about the 363rd time, I will show my ignorance. I always thought that the VDC was basically a superset of the TCS. In other words, I thought when the VDC was turned on, so was the TCS. The only difference being that the VDC has more sophisticated software and it can perform functions that the TCS is not capable of. Buf if I'm right that when the VDC is on, then the TCS function is also on, wouldn't having the VDC on also effect straight line acceleration?

My friend let me borrow the latest issue with the 350Z cover someone posted the other day.

SC managed to get a 14sec quartermile @ 99.2mph and 5.8sec 0-60mph.

The Z they've got is the exact one I'm getting: CS Enthusiast 6spd.

In stock form with 91 Octate fuel, they measured 244HP and 238 lb-ft. With 100 octane, they got 249HP and 240lb-ft.

If this mag. info has been posted already, please delete this thread.

THANx!
I hope this IS NOT the so-called "modded Z" I've seen on the front cover of the Oct. SCC that I've been wanting really bad? Because the cover states, "WE MOD THE NEW 350Z! Exhaust & suspension!" So I assumed they got much better times & performance form this car than all previous articles out there! Can you verify that you were not reading their previous article, where they clearly state that the car tested is a "pre-pro" and not the New SCC October issue??? Here's a link to what I believe you are talking about: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/ro.../0202scc_35oz/

thats ridiculous... SCC and turbo are the least rice in comparison to super street or import tuner which are mostly showcar rice.

Don't get too upset about that 0-60 time. SCC consistently produces slower times than other magazines, mostly because they don't correct for conditions (temperature, altitude, barometric pressure).

If it makes you feel any better, they got 7.6 seconds 0-60 for an RSX Type S.

Fine, but less than 100% rice (Import Tuner), you're still talking about the majority of the mag is rice and rice derivatives.

It's the same as reading Car Audio & Electronics, which I do all the time. Most of the stuff is gaudy, ridiculous show-car crap which no self-respecting person would EVER install in their own car. As long as one realizes that then you're ok.

But it's easy to lose track when you read month after month after month...

actually, i dont agree...

superstreet and import tuner are yes pretty ricey, but superstreet has been trying to get better with all these articles in japan about japanese tuners lately... my only real beef with superstreet is the fact that 75% of the magazine is ads... its like you can flip through 5 straight pages of ads before reaching some substance...

as for SCC... i dont know what you mean about being ricey... they dont feature stickered out big winged cars all that much... unless they have some substantial under the hood mods... a friend of mine writes for SCC and i can assure you his articles are never about rice... he's an engineer at Nissan headquarters in gardena... his articles are almost always super technical engineer geek stuff as is most of SCCs other writers and articles...

my only real problem with SCC is the fact that for the past year it seems every issue is about subaru WRXs and the coming mitsubishi lancer... and waaaay too many rally racing articles...
