A lot "talk" about the VQ engine S2000ers
Any thoughts?

Yet this guy says this with his SC'd s2k.

Why the inconsistencies in what those people think about their cars? Personally, I think most of them have never ran with a Z. My best friend who has an s2k, he is definitely a better driver than I am and most out there, but yet, he can't burn me nor could I to him.

The last link made me want to register and post: "OK, now try running against a 350Z that's supercharged like you are!!!"
hehe thats funny, I love the S2000, but why must they always whine about their lovely 4cyl engine. does it get better gas mileage than us? nope.
I looked on the signup sheets at the track, it doesnt appear to have any sections where you put your handicap due to your engine size. as a matter of fact, the S2000 is 32k I believe, making it more expensive than base, enth, and perf. so by having 2 less cyl its not saving cash. so I say again, why do they feel they should be able to use the fact that they have a 4cyl as an excuse, there was/is no one twisting their arm to have a 4cyl vs a 6.
ok, now Im not stupid, I already know the answer to the question of why. because its lighter, the whole thing is lighter. it doesnt have to support the heavy engine, or chassis twisting torque, its a gocart with 240hp. however that leads us to the final question, why do you try and drag race a car that was OBVIOUSLY meant to take turns, and then try and say its cause you have a 4cyl. ok, then stop drag racing.
some of them realize that, but not all. I wont sit here and start saying ohhh the firebird has 2 more cyl, thats why its faster, its not fair. nope not fair, but obviously its better suited to drag racing.

You're right on, bhobson333...The first link makes me appreciate the nice civilized forum we have here... What morons.
I find it interesting the discussions in the different forums tell you a lot about what type of people drive what type of cars. Reading idiots like that just makes me appreciate more this forum and the members. Of course, WE all KNOW that people who own/drive the Z are special
Peace all.

My thought is this on the s2k vs 350 z. I have owned many honda vtecs and enjoyed the thrill of the vtec big cam lobes upon changeover. I also got tired of driving my car like i hated it. The z has ***** throughout the rev band and its easy to drive fast. If you want really fast launches out of the s2k on a regular basis i hope you're really good at clutch changes. Both cars are fun, it just depends on what you're looking for. I'll take my z thank-you.
Arguments like that get annoying. Just about everyone who bought a Z could just as easily bought an S2k instead. The S2k is still selling, so obviously there are people who prefer it over the Z; the converse is true as well.
I bought my car for many reasons, but beating the S2k certainly wasn't one of them.

back on topic, the Z is a more "fun" car to drive and there is definitely more hp and torque throughout the rpms than the s2k. but it's in the driver, too. i've seen with my own eyes at the track AND on the freeway what both the Z and the s2k can do. i've seen an S2k losing to an RSX....yes an RSX. theres even video of this on the net too. AND i've even seen a Z pull mid 15sec ET 1/4 mile!!!
personally i'd rather drive a car that doesnt have to be 7K+ in the rpms to get peak HP. i like the z better.

The next thing I know...a black RSX comes streaking by me...then a split second later a black s2000 follows. Obviously they were racing. They went at insane speeds until they appeared like specs in the distance. I was going at 80 and as soon as I got a little closer it looked like they slowed to almost a stop.
AGAIN...they went at it again...the s2000 had a good launch on the rsx....but after a little bit the RSX caught up and took it to school.
I don't care how good or bad those drivers were....but that was something I don't see every night.

I wouldn't mind having one they look fun as hell to drive...but I sure as hell wouldn't buy one for that much.
All props to the RSX-S...
Honda did something right with that one. There's a guy locally who has his built, and is out smacking around turbo swapped WRXs. They said he's running mid-high 8s all-motor.
NICE for a FWD 4-cyl full interior!!!!!

IMO i never thought the s2k was comparable to the z in the first place. i always saw the 350z in a class with all the classic turbocharged imports (i.e. supra, rx-7, 240sx [sylvia], all the z-cars even back to the datsun days, and list can go on and on). now the new rx-8 is out and in a few years toyota is gonna spit something out to give us all a run for our money.
