Why is the Tach in the middle?
After having the car for a month now...i just wondered on the ride home tonite..."why is the tach in the middle of the cluster and not the speedo?"
Why is that? Is keeping an eye on the rev more important? Thats my guess.

hmmm... I would think that from a driving enthusiasts' point of view, it is the one gauge you keep your eye on the most, not to say that what's happening on the other gauges is less important, but now... you gotta know what you're revvin!
Are you driving an automatic? I'm pretty sure you'd realize the value of it being centered if you were driving a manual...

lol..thanks guys...I guess I'm a super noob. All my other cars had the normal set up...speedo in middle eye view.
I have the M6 and I do notice that I look at the tach more then the speedo.
It all makes perfect sense!

I NEVER look at the speedo when I'm tracking the Z. All I want to know is when I need to shift, hence the tach being more prominent. But Nissan made up for it (for all those non racing weirdos--Ha ha, j/k) with the lovely digital speedo on your computer display.

Do you guys really look at the tach when driving? Now.. I don't have a Z (yet), but I do drive a manual, and I can feel what RPM I'm at. I can tell from the feel and the sound when I need to shift, so I don't look at gauges at all.
Especially when at the track, isn't it more important to keep your eyes on the road? I think if you have to have a guage tell you when to shift, you don't have a feel for the car yet.

Come on- all of you must at least look at the speedo momentarily when the blue lights flick on in back of you!!! (LOL)
With the MPH in digital just to the right, why would you want to try to ascertain speed on an analog instrument anyway??
I think the setup is great- the tach is much easier to monitor with it's position and size and your brain can process the digital mph number faster than an analog gauge anyway!!!
