For reasons brought about by my own poor judgement, I had to remove the splashguards. Okay, I cut too close to a parking lot median and scraped one pretty badly. Now that I have them off, I kinda' like the look. Seems a bit less cluttered to me. Agree or no? Regards, Jim

I think your car looks better without the splash guards, I was always concerned that the cheap Nissan paint will chip off behind the wheels that's why I haven't remove mine.



Did it leave any marks on the paint where the splash guards used to be ?

 

I had my splash guards installed after I purchased the Z. I asked the installer if I could remove them if I didn't like them. He said I could, but it would leave a screw hole that he had to drill in each of the four locations.

Do you notice those holes?

Exactly what enhancements are you using on your digital photos they have a very interesting look to them. I recently purchased a Nikon 5700 and I am trying to experiment with it.

 

Yea, when I was shopping for mine I wanted the splash guards. I think they go well with the OEM spoiler but when I saw them on a white one I didn't like them so I chose to go without. I think it depends on the color & if you have the aero package (spoiler). I think yours looks good either way.

Question: Did you chop that picture? Its blurry in teh background and the car looks lower in the front then a normal Eibach drop. This is assuming you HAVE an Eibach drop of course haha.

Yes, there was a "curvy" (slight) line left showing an outline where the guards were, but don't forget, I have over 32,000 miles on her too! It/they pretty much all rubbed out.

Yes, there are two holes left, but I re-inserted the screws and it looks just like it did before removal.

Removal gives me just a tad more ground clearance and I needed that.

I agree, it appears that my Eibach drop is a bit more than typical. I have about 17,000 miles on the Eibach install (32,000+ overall) and I measured a 13/16" front drop and 7/8" rear drop this week. I really think my pre-Eibach height was lower than most and it shows with a more dramatic drop on the Eibachs now.

As to the photo itself, I shot with a telephoto (250mm) at a wide aperture (2.8) to isolate the car in sharp focus and cause the bckgrnd. to drop out with (enhanced) selective dof. (depth of field) This is done to bring extra attention to the main subject, the Z. I also enhanced the separation by emphasizing the car by desaturating the bkgrnd. colors somewhat as well. I shot this yesterday afternoon in a slightly overcast setting (note soft shadows) that caused an overall low contrast photo so I increased the contrast and finish by using the clarify tool to give some pop to the final photo.

I shoot only digital and in most cases I shoot Olympus E-20's @ 5 megapixel (overkill for web usage). This pic is shot with my carry along camera, the Olympus E100-RS @ 1.5 megapixel which is ample for web stuff.

The signature pic is an entirely different setting and situation so I won't go into that shoot/photo here.

I always thought the rear splash guards take away from the rear end design, especially when you look at the car directly behind or from the rear left/right. They definitely look like add ons.

The front splash guards look better integrated, if you're going to keep any on the car.

There's no discernable difference in color between the paint that was covered up by the splash guard and the surrounding paint?

 

I agree on the rear guards being more out of synch with the rest of the design. I also noticed that others can now get the full view of the 275's when viewing from the back w/o the guards. I think I am going to leave them off all the way around. Oh, and the paint shows no difference at all. Regards, Jim

I pulled the rears off a week ago because I noticed that there was some scratching where the splashguard matched the fender on the right rear. The guard did not feel loose but something must move when the Z gets up to speed.

Now that they are off I like the cleaner look also.

I have left the fronts so far but they might be coming off soon. I can always put them back on.

You live in AZ? I would have ordered it without or had the dealer take them off right on the lot.

Seattle area is a bit different...I made sure I had splashguards.
