driving for economy
Typical driving, i only get about 18, 19 mpg avg... it's with fair mix of city/highway driving (houston traffic, if anyone's familiar). How do people get to numbers like 30+?! When do you shift? I try to shift at 2-2.5k when i'm trying to save gas..

i get around 24 to 26 driving about 60 mi a day, of which 40 miles is freeway with no traffic. I get to and from work late enough that traffic isn't a factor. I shift @ 2.5k-3k and stay under 75mph on the freeway. I'm running 38psi cold on all fours.

i guess i'll go get a tire pressure thingy. My car is really new though, about a month or 2 old... and the guy threw in nitrogen tires. Is it ok to go a bit above the recommended 35psi?

I honestly don't know how people get 30+ to a gallon...I wish I did so I could pick up some good habits, lol.
Since I've owned my Z I've had an average of 25 mpg. I'm not really expecting mileage to be great on a car like this though...I'm surprised I'm even getting as good as 25 now.

I got the Z for the fun... Gas prices don't affect my fun.
I average ~22-24mpg in a combination of city/highway with the majority being city. I shift around 2-2.5k.

Man these "Cry about gas" people, guess the media is doing their part.. How do they pay for insurance and maint etc if their complaining about gas..? Gas is like the cheapest thing for a car. Unless your usual daily travel is like a 1000mi each way
Like others have said go get a civic or maybe a moped. Skip a few meals or better yet get a better job..

I am averaging about 25mph. I started shifting around 2.5k and shutting my engine off at long lights. I also quit using drive thrus and don't go over 60-65 on the highway. My MPG went from about 21 to 25 doing this. I average around 400 miles every fill up and buy around 16 gallons.

I laugh at the guys getting only teens for milage....
When I was N/A I at least hit 25 mpg and closer to 30 if I had a higher percentage of highway miles. Easily got 30+ on strictly highway.
Even now with lowered compression and boosted I see over 20 mpg in mixed driving and on my trip back from chicago saw over 26 mpg. My last fillup I went 157 miles on 7.5 gallons of fuel ... I tend to fill up when my gauge reads 1/3 tank
I don't drive for milage, but there is no sense to hammer it everywhere I go. Just accelerated smoothly, keep cruising speeds on the highway under 70, and lay off the street racing

Stay out of it. I reset mine b/c of all these threads. I drove both in traffic and highway. At one point b4 I got pissed off at an idiot that was trying to cut me off in heavy traffic, I was up to nearly 27 MPG. Still got about 25.5.
