We have free speech here, and as long as posts aren't obscene or flaming people, they should be allowed here. That being said, TXSTYLE, IMHO you were being way too inflammatory. As numerous people have said, there is NO evidence this has happened. And without getting into parsing your post word-for-word, it implies that you did have evidence that people were having their preorders sold, when NO SUCH EVIDENCE exists. Anyway, if you want to worry about this, and we are going to import ZCAR threads to this forum, here was my suggestion at ZCAR on how not to be a victim (if there is even going to ever be one victim in the entire fricken country who had his preorder sold)

"I think people here are starting to get paranoid. IF it happens, and I doubt it will, I'm sure NNA will look into it for you. But to prevent it from happening, use the info ZISME previously provided to get the approximate delivery date. Then a couple weeks before the delivery date, get your VIN number from your dealer. If they refuse to provide it, then discuss the situation with NNA. Once you have your VIN number your car cannot be sold. I seriously doubt that any dealer will sell the car out from underneath you. I think the more likely scenario is that the dealer is unreasonable on giving you time to pick up your car, i.e., if you don't pick up your car within 24 hours of delivery, you forfeit it. Again, the way to get around this, is to have your VIN and stay on top of your delivery date."

I think the very next post that asked ZISME what to do, if a giant fire-breathing lizard crushes their car, is probably almost as likely as the above scenario.

Default NOT POSSIBlE

Every pre-order recieved a notification from Nissan, not the dealer, showing what you ordered and all the options. Then Nissan, not the dealer, sent everyone a notification of your expected delivery date so I don't believe this crap at all

Hey, if anything this post reminded me how much of a better format www.my350z.com is compared to www.Zcar.com!

Talk about paranoia!! Uh, let's think now; my dealer has given me the VIN # of my new Z. Does anyone really think that the dealer (remember, he has his business to preserve) would then take my car and sell it to someone else to make a better profit?Wouldn't he know that me and my lawyer would hunt them down like dogs and would most likely EASILY be able to find out where the car with my VIN# went to? Come on guys, I know dealers aren't always the most trustworthy people we meet, but this is ridiculous.

It's OK to worry about what might happen; some people just think that way. It's OK to try to prepare for some bad thing that might happen; call it paranoia, but as Andy Grove (of Intel) says, "only the paranoid survive". What I think is not OK (i.e. irresponsible, inflammatory, not a good thing to post, etc.) is to state as fact that a very bad thing has, in fact, been occurring, when there is no evidence of it. This is what I mean by "madness": there is actually a difference between what is happening in someones mind and what is happening in the real world. Not seeing the difference is a form of madness.

If I started a thread that said "look what is happening! People are getting the VINs off this board and using them to steal our 350Zs out from under us!", that would not be OK. It might be something that some "paranoid" people worry about (which is fine), but stating as a fact is wrong.

That's all I'm saying: let's keep a clear difference between paranoid delusions and actual things that are happening in the world. The two are not related.

OH NO, I just read at my350z.com that "people are getting the VINS of this board and using them to steal our 350Zs." I KNEW THIS WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. Quick, I better email ZISME, call Nissan and inform everyone at zcar who may have missed this latest peril.

BTW, the above is a joke, before anyone starts emailing ZISME. AND I agree 1000% with your post z350z.

I have to say that it was, and is unnecessary of TXStyle to make a , um, Hot post without any facts to back it up.

We all were not treated equally. ****, I ordered on the "Last Day" of pre-orders back in Feb. I was told to expect an Oct. delivery, as I was #19 of 19 peaple pre-ordering from my dealer. Fine I accepted that. Then Nissan in their infinite wisdom extended the program, um 6 times? People who ordered cars in Friggin' June(still pre-orderers), are getting their Z's much earlier than I am. That's BS

OK........time to chill, and take a pill:

I agree that we need to presume no wrongs have been committed until there is evidence, but can anyone explain what legitimate reason a dealer can have for refusing to give a pre-order customer their order/tracking number?
Valid point. As I stated in another post, NNA called me on Friday to answer a question from 7 weeks ago. While on the phone with them, I decided to verify my order number. The rep told me that I should get the order number from my dealer, but because some of the dealers are not giving out the order numbers, he would tell me mine (which btw was the same as what my dealer told me). He also give my my manufacturing date (late August which my dealer had not told me) and my October delivery date (confirming what my dealer had told me). I think if you call NNA and tell them that the dealer refuses to tell you your order number, they will probably give it to you and your manufacturing month and delivery month.

Angry This thread is pathetic.

Even a cursory glance at the posts on the other forum reveals that this is a case of a dealer selling cancelled preorders. Hardly a cause for calling anyone a sleazy slimeball (like that's nice since it didnt involve cursing? Do YOU want to be labelled a sleazy slimeball on the net?). Also, hardly a reason for using this as an excuse for fomenting rampant paranoia and a wave of harrasing phone calls directed to the folks at Nissan.

To the moderator who started this only three words come to mind. Irresponsible. Idiotic. Inexcusable.

It's worth remembering that no one held a gun to Nissans head forcing them to offer us a preordering opportunity for the exact model, color and options we want on a brand new high demand car AT LIST PRICE. Porsche didn't do that with the Boxter. Honda didn't do it with the S2000. Audi didn't do it with the TT. BMW didn't do it with the Mini Cooper. Hell, with those cars you paid $5,000 over sticker for whatever hit the dealer's lot no matter what color it was and what options it had and that was that. If you didnt take it some one else would. And for this Nissan gets an unending stream of **** from anxious newbies, immature first time car buyers and paranoid schizophrenics.

It strikes me that a moderator has a resposibility to sort out the facts rather than using the forum as a platform for fear mongering, spreading misinformation and generally upsetting people needlessly. BAD moderator (where's my rolled up newspaper?).

Default Tolerance

To all concerned,

The hard part of being a MOD is tolerance.Something many here lack. ALL of you deserve to have and post an opinion. I have patiently waited for this thread to die but it seems it revives itself with a vengance. This thread would have been closed long ago if I followed my personal feelings. However, that Tolerance issue remains as a primary directive. I read things daily which I find less than worthy of board space. Yet it remains unadultrated for all who choose to read. So too will this remain, though I caution those who would use personally insulting language,(Idiotic)I am not above editing such remarks.

So far I have not seen any malice displayed in the entire thread. Therefore,I have felt no intervention was warranted. As to TXSTYLE'S status as a MOD, it still does not prevent him from having and voicing an opinion. Same as everyone else. Maybe we all exhibit less than perfect judgement from time to time. As I aluded to earlier,a little tolerance makes for a more enjoyable experience here on the site.

Regards to all...

Geez, you make it sound like he committed a crime or something. Remember, this is a message board and not everyone likes everything they read. It doesn't make sense to drag this out longer than it needs to.

Just logged on and read through the replies. It is apparent that many of you feed off of one anothers negative feedback. That is unfortunate. But, in an effort to maintain a mostly positive and flame-free enviornment, I will be closing the very thread I started. Sure, I could make a 'comeback' and keep the embers glowing just enough to maintain the fire, but as a MOD and one who like many here, enjoy, appreciate, and even commend the positiveness here at MY350Z I know when to say when. I will add this:
This is the internet. This is a public forum. This is a place to express ones "sentiments and opinions" on various subjects. Alot can be said or known about us (any & all who post and or reply) without never personally meeting face to face. I posted what I believe to be an area of concern if it only happens ONCE! And I'm sure we can all agree that one incedent like this would be one too many. Yes, I read the topic on another board, that's obvious, but nontheless, it is troubling to even think that can happen. So I passed on what I believed to be "awareness" nothing more, nothing less. But one thing is for sure, anyone can read through this thread and see the various replies to the subject and draw the same conclusion: No matter how negative or inflammartory some of your responses were, I never came back guns blazing or all bent out of shape on the defensive. Why? Becuse of what I stated above. That ladies and gentlemen speaks for itself.
