Well technically its not. Its a common problem that they acknowledge and issue a fix for. They dont have to fix it after warranty expires. Most will though.

I can tell you its not a $300 fix. Take it somewhere and tell them to do what i outlined above. It will cure your problem. I had this problem 6 years ago with my Z. My complaints were some of the reasons for that particular TSB. Too bad i had another shop fix the problem before they figured out how to fix. The shop (Crawford Z Car) has fixed countless others the same way with no issues what so ever.

and i am in canada with a USDM car- so you should be getting that for less money and less hassle (CDN dealers hate USDM cars)

dealerships
I mentioned this on a recent thread, but got no interest (guess cause I'm new)....same click noise. I'm in Canada as well. They quoted me 230.00, and when I went to pick it up, it was 360.00 because of 100 bucks worth of parts. They only charged me 230.00 without me hassling them.

So that really did NOT work.
Here's the deal: You actually have 3 warranties listed in the manual: 1) 3yr 36000 general, 2) 5yr/60000 powertrain only, 3) (this is the one people miss) 1yr/12000 adjustment. Typically 3) is for brakes, etc. But since some dealers interpret the axle clicking as an adjustment, they won't warranty it if car has more than 1yr/12000 (note: the fix is not only lube, but to "adjust" the axle nuts because they are too tight). I was charged $120 for both wheels.

wow, thats pretty loop-hole-ish, (i'm inventing new words).

the way I see it is that if something isnt right with a part under warranty, in this case part of the drivetrain, it should be fixed under warranty.

I would say try another dealer.

I had this TSB done on my car. It was covered under the powertrain warranty. They had to order in a part do to it, which I thought was strange because I thought they only had to tighten the bolts. The crappy part...it clicks more now than when I took it to them, so I have to take it back again...

Lubing any car doesn't cost 300$ lol. Sounds like they are trying to charge you for a whole service. But yes lubing is part of a service and this is why they are prolly trying to say all this. But if this is something known with a lot of the 350z's they should cover it for you. I say find another dealership and check with them even if you gotta drive a few extra miles. Or search for a thread on the fix for this and do it yourself, Im sure theres one out there....
