Default The Z is gone

Well, my Z is gone. Various reasons caused me to get rid of it, the main one being I work in the tech industry and our group's headcount is being reduced by 20%. In it's place is a barely used, supercharged '03 Nissan Frontier...which is a different (yet highly useful) nice rig.

Thanks for all the helpful threads and entertainment.

Maybe I'll pick up another one when George Bush is out of office and someone else is in office who cares more about our economy instead of grinding ever country under his heal..

Adios.

People who think their job is dependent on a politician need economic classes.

Our nation was founded on the idea of individual freedoms leading to possibilities of success. Now, it is sad to see people looking to the government for every little thing. I want the government to generally stay out of my way, instead of thinking they are responsible for me. I'm more than capable of being resposible for myself.

Yeah. And maybe if Al Gore had gotten in there and supported legislation that required all sportscars to get 30,000 miles per gallon, you would have your electric Z..........

Yeah, right. It's Bush's fault.

Yup. It¡¦s kind of weird when people blame the government for stuff like that. Well, of course it¡¦s affecting our lives here and there. But I hope you are not living on social security yet...if not, work for your own check

This is not to brag, but I have been working since I was 17. I am almost 23 now, still is grateful when I receive my check. Maybe I¡¦m too young to care? But I know if I were you, I would work my butt out to not to be in that ¡§reduced 20%¡¨.

Not saying that you dont work hard enough tho
Just my thoughts

Think of it this way, at least you are still in the Nissan family

Good luck,

Mark

I generally agree that one cannot blame the government for their woes. On the other hand, if you think government policy(s) does not significantly influence the economy you are way out of touch.

I agree the government can have some influence on the economy via regulation and tax policies. On the other hand, no one politician controls enough of the strings in a quick enough manner to be responsible for my job. Economic policy can take quarters or years to play itself out. This most recent recession, for instance, was recently determined by the board that decides these things to have been over by the fourth quarter of 2001. As happened in the last recession, though, jobless rates are lagging by over a year, but the truth is the economy has been growing for about 20 months.

For starters, the government without question has a huge impact on the economy. You can never blame one party or one person, it's a cumulative effort and they are only one part of it.
No matter what any politician/political party does the effects take a LONG time to take place.
See Greenspan lowering interest rates, it doesn't happen overnight, growth is back but not much, and according to somepeople not at all, its a long process!!!!!!!!!!
So the economy going in the shi**er may very well be the results of someone else's presidency.

Enjoy your truck, and don't worry, you'll be able to purchase another Z in the future.

Take care.

Default You know I hate to remind people...

And I hate to give Al Qaeda credit...

But the economic cost of the loss of the Twin Towers is staggering. Recent estimates have SHORT TERM economic damages running between $40 and $60 billion. Businesses have been devastated, financial markets are reeling, and international trade is contracting.

The longer-term economic consequences will be even worse. America will sorely miss 3000+ of its most productive citizens. This country will now spend vast amounts of resources on security and defense that will not be used to build businesses, houses, food, or medicine.

The global economy was slowing before the September 11th disaster (much too soon to pin on Bush). But I attribute that slowdown more to a normal, market driven correction for overspeculation on tech-stocks than to any one president or government agency.

No politician can be blamed for our current wavering economy (which is still growing). Al Qaeda smacked us pretty good. It will take many years to recover.

Dissident, you're right!

If it wasn't for Algore there wouldn't be an Internet, I wouldn't know UFO lost his Z, and wouldn't know Dubya is to blame for all our/my problems.

Interestingly enough....

When things are going well the government is the last place the credit goes. When things are not so well, it is all the Governments fault. Or better yet the president's fault. No one looks to the house and senate who pass the bills....I guess they have no role in this.....

Has anyone ever heard of the business cycle? I have a couple of friends who are brokers and they depend on the economy for their jobs. Their not worried about it a bit. This is not the first time or the last time we will get out of a rough economy.

Cheer up people, were lucky to be here......
