Is high octane really necessary in a 350Z?

Yeah, in my corner of Texas, the station owner walks out, shoves his baby in your face, then demands that you "worship baby Jesus".
Then, if you have no baby handy, he hits you and screams Baptist BS at you, all the while telling you "if you don't make babies, , YOU SUCK!:"
Ironically - I see every day people that have HUGE families and no money.
Their kids are eating of the free samples at the grocery store.

FWIW, I just returned from a 1,300 trip to the mountains and happily paid $4.70/g for Premium while there (no competition+transporation costs = higher prices). Yes, it is necessary.

Premium is required for a reason. Run anything less and you'll be running the risk of detonation.
I mean, holy ****ing ****. If everytime I filled up my Evo a naked ***** would come running out the station, I'd go through 3-4 tanks a week.

Just cut off the intake to the air clearner box. You can use E85 if you do this.
