Default some questions (and yeah i did search) about my new Z...

I just got my white 6 speed enthusiast last nite, and this is my first manual car so on the 2 hour drive bakc i stalled it a few timers tryin to get it in first from stop...but im getting better....here are some questions

1.My car is the 18660 made, should i expect less probs being it was made in May/03?

2.Window streak, how obvious is this because i dont see much of a streak right now?

3.ALIGNMENT, should i ask the service dept now to check the alignment to prevent tire wear issues even tho i dont kno if the specs are good?

4.Is the stock alarm any good?should i upgrade to better right now?

5.Maybe its just me being its my first manual car but it seems the engagement point on the clutch is very sensitive as in theres not a lot of room for error in the point?

please help me out this forum is great and I have so far learned a lot in only the 2 weeks ive been a member

yes, most tsb's were probably incorporated in production

2.Window streak, how obvious is this because i dont see much of a streak right now?

see above. If you have the streak, you would probably see it after rolling the window up and down 2-3 times

3.ALIGNMENT, should i ask the service dept now to check the alignment to prevent tire wear issues even tho i dont kno if the specs are good?

probably fixed too. I don't think the dealer would do it, but most alignment shops will check it for free, align for around $60 and its good preventive maintenance.

4.Is the stock alarm any good?should i upgrade to better right now?

alarm is good enough, plus the ecu has theft deterrent built in.

5.Maybe its just me being its my first manual car but it seems the engagement point on the clutch is very sensitive as in theres not a lot of room for error in the point?

you will get used to it.

Getting used to a clutch is a learning process. You will get used to it.

Remember that a clutch is designed and built to take some heavy use. You won't break it unless you do something very obviously stupid like rev to redline and slide your foot off the pedal sideways a bunch of times.

I have found that this car is easier to drive hard than it is to drive easy. Stop taking it easy and try for a couple of fast off-the-line starts. You will learn a lot about clutching from this experience.

No, it's extra grounding wires added to your engine compartment to improve the signal the computer gets.

no, a grounding kit is not a drop. Its an addition to the factory grounding wires in the engine bay. The theory is that the factory ground is adequate, but bigger wires and more grouding points are better, and in fact, one of the tuner magazines got good dyno gains by installing one. I highly recommend insanemine's kit. Not real expensive, and definitely worth it. btw, at www.350zfrenzy.com , we will soon be having a contest to give away a couple of these kits!

You should look into Eibachi Pro springs, they are available for less than $250 and have favor reviews here.

When you walk away from the car and hit the lock button on your remote you are engaging the alarm. However, the alarm is not motion sensitive...as in it will not go off if the car is bumped or the windows are broken. It is my impression that if the the doors are pryed open once the the alarm has been engaged with the remote, then it will go off. Just as if you hit the panic button.

Yes, there is an alarm. Try this... Leave your windows rolled DOWN, get out of the car, lock it with the remote.

Now, reach INSIDE and open the door. (Don't Unlock with the key or the remote)...

Be prepared to turn OFF the Honking horn and flashing lights... I THINK there is also a fuel cut off incorporated with this, but I haven't read enough to be certain.

Can I put a better / different alarm on the Z and still use only ONE remote? I mean I wouldn't want to have to use the factory remote to lock / unlock / roll windows down, and an aftermarket one to turn alarm on and off...

My car is 15641. I had 1 long grease streak on my passenger side window. And little droplets on my driver side window. I will be getting my car back from the dealer today. If you get the work done. I would suggest getting it done before you get your windows tinted.

Even better, I recommend that, when they remove the door panels to install the window streak kits, they also do the tint on the windows. Worked for me.
