If thats true then my car is coming in 5 days....I dont believe it but....WHO KNOWs????? Thank god I just got my loan approved. Just in Case.
My VIN is 913 so maybe it isnt low enough to come now. I was told first week in September...so i guess I'll wait to see...but im not going to hold my breath because I might explode.

AFter reading this thread, I called my deqaler right away. I ordered on 1/25/02 and am in San Antonio so I figured my Z couldn't be far behind. My sales rep said "Oh yeah, we got a list in this week, and it looks like yours got pushed back to October" WTF??!!!! He couldn't tell me why or even waht day in October, all he could say was that it would be sometime in that month. That MR2 Spyder is looking more and more tempting, but I have waited this long for my Z, I guess I can wait a little longer. I convinced myself I WOULD much rather have a 350Z over the Toyota, but this waiting is really getting to me, especially when people are already getting their cars!!

Sorry for the delay, I have been at the dealer this morning doing all the paperwork. I got my trade in agreed on, credit apps, finance rates etc.
The dealer is Bankston Nissan of Dallas. I have been talking with the sales manager, Pat Atwood. He is very cool and totally fair. He said he has been the Sales Manager for 15 years at Bankston, which is almost unheard of.
At first I had thought the dealer was a jerk, because Pat kept saying he Nissan didn't give him any info, and based upon this board, I knew there was info.
Well I faxed him ZISME post about getting your order status, and he found my VIN that way, but he told me the report numbers on that post were wrong, he just used the last few numbers and found similar reports.
I am now sure he was telling the truth. He is a great guy. He took off the money for the "mandatory" paint protection package Bankston puts on all cars and I didn't want. And agreed to all me requests for delivery, no front plate, no wax of any kind, etc.
He said he will give me a few free oil change certificates so that I will try out their service.
He did say he had one person accused him of selling his pre-order to somebody else, because of a late delivery date.
I have bought 10 new cars in the last 10 years, and this is the best sales manager ever.
I had originally tried to preorder at Courtesy, because that is where I bought my 95 300zxTT. Their sales manager was extremely rude, basically telling me that they didn't need me to buy their cars, and didn't give a crap about the fact that a had previously bought a $44k car from them. I tried to buy from them in the morning of JAN 15, and they said they were taking orders for 2004. I noticed on this board somebody else preordered a Z, week or two AFTER they told me to kiss their butt.
Any way I posted the dates because I figured anybody scheduled for an original September 3rd date like me, would have got moved up to. The all come on the same Boat/Train/Truck.

Cash1,
You mentioned you were at the dealer working on finance terms & such.... If you don't mind, what kind of interest rate is the dealer offering. I plan to take delivery with a peoplefirst.com loan in hand, but I'm hoping the dealer will give a better interest rate.
Thanks... -Mike

Cash - sorry to hear about your troubles with Courtesy, they've been fantastic to me. Of course, I put down my deposit in Jan of 2001, so it's no surprise they didn't have any spots left when you tried to preorder. Still no excuse to be rude to you. Thanks for the heads up on the date change. I called my dealer yesterday, he called me back today to tell me it's been moved up to Aug. 27. We'll be in our Z's next week! I can't friggin wait!

Bankston works with the Credit Union I use. They quoted 5.9%
The NMAC rate was higher, but I didn't ask how much.
Many times if you want to finance through your dealer, they can shop a much cheaper loan for you than the manufacturer rate(unless there is a special finance deal, which you know is not happening on the 350's).
Of course it all depends on your credit score.
With the online finance companies like elaon or peoplesfirst, I am concerned about the dealer accepting the bank draft they issue. I have seen stories posted of dealers not accepting the drafts, or not releasing the car until the draft clears the bank, up to two weeks.
They may be great, I just want to walk in to the dealer, sign the final papers, and drive out.
Also, the reason I am getting my loan done before the car arrives is that the F&I guy can't decide to rape me at the last minute. If they don't approve my rate, I just go elsewhere.

I just called Pat at Bankston Dallas, where I ordered in January. Here is the poop....
Three cars are coming into his dealership. Told by Nissan to expect them in five days from Monday (8-19). He is not sure about the other dealers in the area or state.
Mine is expected on or near 9-2 and he gave me my vin #. Told me he does look at our board and not to believe all that is on their.
Told me to call him if I found out anything before him (LOL).
He is impressed with the board and how rabid the z nuts are!
