I saw a review on Top Gear Re: the 350z - is "this..." true?
He said it was obnoxiously loud motor wise and it rode like hell (that it wore him down driving it). I had a 300ZX and loved the way it felt. Is driving the car daily "quiet" enough and comfortable enough so I won't regret my purchase? BTW I have driven 2 350Z's - both roadstrs. Didn't get to get them out enough to stretch their legs however (just in town below 35mph) They seemed "tight" to drive i.e. - lots of micro-managing to maintain on the road. Have you had any thoughts similar to this or is there anything to be done to help compensate for those two things? Thank you in advance!

There is some road noise, but my personal opinion is. Doesnt really bother me, and the slightest bit of radio tunes it out. Its not like it disturbs conversations or anything like that. I just got back from FL to IL (18) hours and would do it that car in a heart beat AGAIN. In fact the poor thing is going to the other coast pretty soon (CA). The road noise is a very mute point. I dont see what the whining is about.
"do you need a car like this? NO you dont need a car like this. Do you WANT a car like this? YES YOU WANT A CAR LIKE THIS."
So go get your Z

Awesome! Thanks for that input. I drove my 300ZX for 13 hours straight and it was like sitting on the couch the whole time. Even more comfortable then my wifes Escalade! NO JOKE The guy that did the review was REALLY ******* the car !bad! I was ready to sign papers lol - then I saw that and was like UH-OH! - better do some more research .... What about the "work-out" factor driving it in town? The guy says it was the worst he'd ever driven??? Many opinions appreciated!

Which model Z was he driving? I have an 03 touring that I love to death. My only complaint is a little freeway hop, but still i love the car. If he was driving the Nismo model, it is way tight.

Yea he dogged it kinda bad, but I watched a new episode of it here not too long ago and good ol' jeremy fell back on his words. He was wearing a Z shirt! what a benedict lol! as far as getting a workout? um...no, sure it takes a little more effort to go through the gears than lets say an eclipse, but only girly men complain that the Z is a workout after they drive it.

You've got to understand that the Top Gear TV show doesn't really do serious car reviews. It's a 90% comedy show with 3 grumpy middle-aged English guys being smartasses and blowing up old Rovers and making celebrities race economy cars. It's fun, but not something you base serious buying decisions on.
Also, the negative review was of a pre-production 350Z that was kind of buggy. They eventually made it Car of the Year.
EDIT: This is the latest Top Gear review of the Z: http://www.topgear.com/drives/D0/F2/...sts/08/01.html

Yeah i've seen that review before... the guys are right Top Gear is really more of an entertainment show than a proper car review show. The reviews are very subjective and it depends on whos driving it. Hammond happens to love the Z, so its all a matter of perspective.
He is right though the engine, well more like the exhaust is noisy and can drone on a bit. But you just let off the throttle a slight bit and turn the tunes up and you dont notice it. It's really not that bad, and honestly I love the sound of the 350Z, its very unique, sounds great. I purposely drive around some times in a low gear around 3-4K RPM just to listen to that exhaust. When I want it to shut up I just go to the highest gear and let off the throttle some. The Z has plenty of torque to keep up.
The ride is kinda bumpy but a lot of that comes down to your tires too and you can adjust that to a certain limit.
Jeremy is weird though, he will change his opinion for no reason at all sometimes. For instance a few years back they showed the Alfa Romeo 8C, and Jeremy said it was hideous... and now just last week they finally reviewed it and Jeremy wants to have sex with the car practically. So... his opinion seems to go with whatever direction the wind is traveling that day.
Regardless, test drive the car some more and get it if you like it. Usually you will notice something pretty quick if it will annoy you often.
