G35c Vs 350z
Ok my question is this. Why does the 350Z Touring cost more than a G35C with leather?!?... I know its only like $1500 more or so but im just curious. G35C rides smoother, 4 seats, better interior which all cost more to do.... Now the 350Z does have a huge strut bar (or whatever its called) in the back but ive heard the handling on the G35C and 350Z are about the same. I own a 350Z and love it. Im just in a curious mood. It would seem to me (just an average joe) that we are paying for the Z name maybe?
Or is there a real reason why the Z cost more? (and dont say the 7HP difference :P)
Sorry if this is a stupid question.
Thanks

I had the same question when choosing which of these 2 cars to buy.
My guess is in some of the parts. The stiffer suspension probably have heavier duty shocks. The carbon fiber driveshaft prob cost a pretty penny.... but thats all i can think of.

The "package shelf" in the G is equivalent the the rear strut bar in the Z. You forgot to mention the Brembo brakes on the G. Look what those do to the price of the track model Z. I had a very hard time understanding the pricing of the G vs Z myself. The GC6MT is like the best of the track and touring for the same price. Either the G is underpriced, or the Z is overpriced. Take your pick. I have heard that the Z gives you a little better feel for the road.
At the time of my purchase no dealer would let me drive a Z, so I bought the G. One of the first things out of the Infiniti salesperson's mouth was "you want to drive it"! I don't feel bad. I got a better warranty, better service, and more interior goodies for the money.
I still need to drive a Z. Who knows, I may end up with one of those too!

I agree it is a misprice situation. The G35C 6MT is a better buy list for list over the touring, especially if you don't go for the premium package. You still get a lot of stuff standard on the G35C that you won't find on the Z, or have to pay extra for (Brembos, side airbags, etc).
I ended up with a touring Z. I got a lot under list, which just wasn't going to happen back in December on a G35 (and was rarely happening on a Z at the time). I love the car, and it is more raw than the G35C in the way it drives. Most times that is a good thing, but the porpoising in the Z would be the advantage the G35C has if that is a big issue for somebody.
I did like the Z seats better. The G35C seats are a bit narrower in the butt area strangely enough. I probably could have used an inch or so more travel in the seat that the G35C has, though.
Oh well, both are good deals for the money.

Z engine has more power, Z is faster, Z handles better (yes the G is great, but the Z surpasses it). I would expect that the Z uses slightly stronger parts in various places in the driveline. Aluminum hood (expensive), carbon-fiber drive shaft (not sure if the G has these, but there's some extra cost).
They're different cars. The G is not just a Z with a back seat.

the reason the Z is faster is because it doesnt have back seats (which = more weight) ok so it has 7 more HP....
From what ive heard the Z has a problem with its back end slipping?!? Could be wrong (probably am) so as far as handeling i dont know if the Z is really that much better than the G
but if the Z has a Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft and the G doesnt then that can be one reason..

The G35C got better tires than the Z, which puts them pretty close on handling. Rubber being equal, the lighter weight and shorter wheelbase of the Z would probably make its handling a bit quicker. Not a lot, though. It is also sprung stiffer.
How many times is this argument going to come up...talk about beating a dead horse. I bought my touring Z because I liked it better than the g35...personal preference...not worth debating which is better; everyone has different tastes and buys for different reasons.
hmm..
what should i get?? an enthusiast 350z or a base cloth g35c??
i like the Z because its cheaper, easier to get compared to a base cloth and it has the handbrake instead of that pedal e-brake the g35c auto has
but i can definitely use the back seats in the g35c..and i like how the g35c looks better without the antenna and the 2 washer spray on the hood...
what do u guys think?
