No they don't, ALL the dealerships i've been to treat their customers with the outmost respect, and they NEVER rip anybody off.

Smart choice = 91-93 fuel its was recomended to get the most power from the car and maintain the dealer specs (hp, tq, mpg, so on)
Point is, todays cars are smart enough (even my old 96 turbo talon) to detect knock and detination. and then pull timing from the car to keep it from doing so. So the motor will not blow up, the ECU will pull timing and take away HP from the car and probably some MPG. It wont hurt a damn thing, it just wont run the way it should and my guess is get less MPG and cost more than if you were to just put the 91-93 in it in the first place. Personaly i wouldnt do such a thing, but if you are going on a road trip and want to save the 2 dollars a fill its not going to hurt crap. But if it does, and nissan does a oct check im sure they can void the warrently claim.

The manuel is pretty clear. Premium is required. On the occasion that it is not available it is ok to run lower octane. They caution to not fill the tank or to drive the car in the manner in which it was meant to be driven..... in other words, if you use lower octane, treat your Z like a hybrid.
I have run lower octane from time to time with no problems. Never 87 though. when i did this I drove s l o w l y.
it was a short lived problem that does not occur often.

^ thats good stuff keep it going.
Instead of driving harsh, if you truly dont have cash, drive slower, shift smoother, and dont slam the gas. Get better gas milage. Buy 91 octane.
Or sell your car and buy a Toyota Prius.
