Default LoL

yeah thats a great review on the Z...

lime98- I definitely noticed that too, and I definitely laughed at that too. The guy sounds like a 16-year olds mom concerned about the Z's speed..haha

I just wanted to post and find out if anyone got a response from emailing him? I would love to hear what he "said" in response to the emails that I'm sure some of the people here sent him

Regarding the 50,000

The website is msn.com, not msn.ca also he refers to the warranty info in miles, so I'm positive he means US dollars, he can't be referring to Canadian dollars. So like someone said he is only about $25,000 off on the price. Excellent reporting.

Maybe that's why he gives the Z a 25% value rating while every other journalist in the world states that the Z is one of the greatest bangs for the buck.

Oh yeah and the 0-60 time of 6.5...give me a break, a Celica GTS does 0-60 in about 6.7 and a Z would smoke a GTS anyday of the week.

Default Unbelievable ...

My .02…

In addition to everyone else’s remarks…. A few of my favorite gems:

“the Z logo is placed throughout the vehicle. . . a little too much so” So how many is too much? Should there be 2 less, 4 less...what?

Of course, my favorite:

“350Z accelerates and passes quickly, perhaps too quickly…” I'm speechless, definitely the most asinine remark in the article.

“Windshield Wipers: They clear only of the windshield's surface…” ?? What does that mean? Darn things don’t clear the hood, the roof…

“However, who came up with the idea of installing an outdated whip antenna on the left rear fender. Where's the foxtail?” ?????????? Again, just speechless..

“The 350Z is quite expensive despite its list of standard equipment.” Compared to what? A Hyundai Tiburon? This car is CHEAP considering the performance/ equipment.

“Insurance: Do not expect premiums to come cheap because sports cars are insurers' pet peeves and they usually take advantage of this to boost premiums considerably.” You figure that out on your own, Mr. Rocket Scientist?

Being from Canada and residing in the province of Quebec and being French i have this book. The review shown on msn.com is almost a direct translation from the book! I had even sent him a e-mail regarding his stats when the book first came out. It is clearly described as being under $50000.00 and that would be Canadian...guess the translators forgot to convert some important details.

On msn.com they list 0-60mph times. In fact they are 0-100 km/h which is 62-63 miles per hour i think. If I remember correctly it was explained that in order to achieve 63 mph you needed and extra shift. (don't get on my case if this does make sense....stating from memory here, but am pretty sure that's what it was) Anyways the article sucks nonetheless.

I'm refering to his book which is listed in the guys bio right on msn.com...it's available in Canada don't know about the states. The review is not plagarized it's translated from french by god knows who cause it's not that great. A clear example of this is concerning the winshield wipers as refered to by MARHOT. In the book he's talking about the REAR wiper...saying that it would have been better if it would of went the other (left to right instead of right to left) thus clearing in the area where LEFT hand drivers would see better out the rear window. Again i'm not defending his review because he is way off on some issues...just clearing some of the translation.

I guess those times might make sense if it was tested to 100 km/h, because both cars must shift into third to go that fast (Nissan clearly geared our cars appropriately so that 60 is right at the top of second, for all thos magazine reviews)

My only other thought is that maybe the guy had TCS or VDC on and launched at 5000 rpms.

Ahh, that "clears" up some of the confusion.

I'm guessing that if you were driving in say, Japan, the rear wiper would be perfectly placed, no? I also heard that the LH/RH drive conversion was blamed for the lack of a glovebox in the dash.

Anywho, some trims of the Z may be able to get to 62 @ fuel cutoff, but I'm guessing that his times are with a shift to 3rd. That would make sense.

The whole "pass too fast" comment still doesn't make much sense though. I don't care what a persons' thoughts on speedlimits are, all of us should still realize that it is better to pass quickly and get back to your side of the road than to sit out in the opposite lane trying to get up the speed to overtake.

Oh, what does he mean by "Foxtail" for the raido antenna? Is that a translation problem also, or am I unaware of some fancy new technology.

A "foxtail" antenna is one of those external antennas centered on the rear of the roof, usually seen on hatches and smaller cars. From the side it angles around 15-30 degrees off of horizontal.

Hold on even if that time is 0-62 it still would not be that slow. I have seen times of a G35 coupe 6spd 0-62 and it did 6 flat and the Z is just a little faster so this guy should get fired for his terrible review.
