Default 03 and 06 z shifting ?

So I own an 03 z, and just drove my dad's z he bought. It is an 06 and the shifting felt so much different, the clutch's engagement point was much higher. I was also doing some spirited driving and shifted from 3rd to six doing sixty on accident, and after I shifted hit the gas a little and it went directly to six grand rpms? Is that all normal it only has 22k miles on it?

you must have had the clutch slightly depressed? Ive never drivin a older Z just my 06. I know the engagement point is high. Maybe you had it pushed in just enough to raise the rpm's.

Did you feel the car jerk? Maybe you just weren't in gear? But accidentally going from 3rd to 6th instead of 4th? Never really had that problem in a manual. Sometimes when going from 2nd to 3rd i'll accidentally get into 5th. Some gearboxes are weird that way, feels like 5th and 3rd are really close to eachother where other gears feel further apart.

Did you notice the 06 clutch pedal being heavier at all? Thats usually the most noticable for most people.

you mis-shifted, it happens. you learned from it, the car is fine, you only rev'd the thing to 6k. relax.

Yeah... the car is ok. I had to read the post twice because I thought he accidentally shifted from 6th to 3rd at 60mph... even then, you should be ok (if you didn't rev match you'd get jerked a bit though).

Like everybody else said, the car is fine... you probably just mis-shifted. If the RPM's jumped to 6K at 60mph, you may have been riding the clutch... mine goes to about 4300 rpm when I downshift to 3rd...

I don't want to sound mean, but, learn how to drive a standard. I've seen a lot of people drive their cars just yanking in the gears, no feel or whatsoever for the engine. First you must learn to shift properly before shifting at higher speeds. It's not an arcade game, lol
