Man the stories continue. For those of you who have not read my 1st thread on this board, I posted that I was to get delivery Aug 15th.

Anyways, heres the story:

I walked into the dealership in late June, curious about the Z and merely asking questions because at the time i owned a Yellow 2000 SLK 230 with amg sport package, so no rush right? Well the salesman who sold me a pathfinder previously tells me you have unbelievable timing cuz this guy who preordered a Z backed out, and asked if i would like to claim the spot.

<long pause> "Hell yes!" So I came back that day and forked over $1000 deposit and he transfered the purchase from the original pre order customer to me. Luckily it was a Daytona Track w/o Navigation.

But then the porblems ensued. No VIn, and the expected Aug 15th delivery passed with no Z. I became Paranoid! Called Nissan NA (Supposedly they Nissan doesnt like this), got my dealer in trouble, searched for other alternative cars.

Then today I call to tell my sales rep i got approved for a Peoplefirst.com loan and to see if Nissan Finance can do better. Before i can finish my sentence he starts to tell me the VIN. I didnt even realize he was talking to me. And said the delivery is scheduled for September 2 but since i am an impatient bastard told me that to also note sept 12th as well.

 

Excellent, I have a feeling that most of those early september deliverires are going to turn into Late August deliveries, I can't wait. Great choice of color too, or the preorderer that cancelled.

On another note, I know you mentioned the 03 Cobra as an option before and I cringed, I friend of mine works at a Ford dealership and said they got a couple of new ones back in with pulling problems. I guess you can go pretty fast just not straight.

 

As has been stated numerous times be careful of a delivery date of the 2nd. Apparently, the inventory sheets refer to Sept. 2, Oct. 2, etc. The dumbass dealer than tells the customer that the car is going to be here on the 2nd, when Sept 2, refers to Sept 2002, not to any day in September. On the other hand, some cars might be delivered on the second of some month, you might be one of the lucky ones.

 

waited 2 months compared to most of our 7 months wait....HHHmmmmmmm And you driver a mercedes. I really feel for ya....LOL

well. Right place right time....I love it when I have that kinda luck. Congrats to you. But when I'm one of the people going crazy waiting 7 months I am almost ticked that they arent charging you 5k over MSRP since you missed out of the fun.....(thats just jealousy talking)

 

My dealer told me Sept 2 also, which is Labor Day, so I am a bit doubtfull it will be delivered that day.

 

Did they give you a rate for a loan? I just got approved at PeopleFrist for 4.5%, so I'm assuming they can't beat that....

 

I havent talked to the finance manager at my dealership yet. I want to bring in the peoplesoft check as compelling proof that they need to beat what i already have in order to make any money on me from the financing. The dealership owner said they will meet or beat whatever interest rate i have been approved for.

So it can't hurt to try.

I wont hold my breath though, Aug 1th came and passed with dissappointment :/
but who knows maybe nissan NA will rush the rest cuz of all the posts on this awesome site and my undercover phone call i made to get them yelling at dealers lol.

But congrats on your car too and I hope everyone gets theirs soon.

 

i'm keeping an eye on the tracking stuff thats going on at nissandriven.com. According to an earlier post, the boat that carries our car arrives at newark tomorrow the 21, and it shouldn't take 2 weeks for them to deliver to star nissan since we are so close. we might even get our this weekend, hehe, i'm hopping. i'm gonna keep checking the dealer inventory at starnissan to see if our vin pop up at time soon
