Default eBay Brembo Rotor Ripoff - What to do?

So I bought some OEM Brembo rotors advertised as having only "about 200 miles" on them when they were taken from an 07 Nismo 350Z and "Consequently, the brake rotors are still new". I emailed the seller and asked about any warping issues or if they were run at the track. The response was "they are in perfect shape, i used just for about 200 miles".

When they arrived I took them to Pep Boys and had them measured. Turns out the thickness on the fronts ranged from 29.64mm to 29.82mm, compared to 29.97mm for new ones. The minimum thickness for the fronts is 28.4mm so doing the math it appears that 10 to 20 percent of the useable thickness is gone. Seems unreasonable for only 200 miles. I was expecting only a few percent, and hoping I wouldn't have to have them turned. The mechanic said he could guarantee they had more than 200 miles and they definately needed to be cut before installing new pads.

The rears were almost as bad... up to 15 percent wear.

So what to do? I paid with Mastercard through PayPal. Is this something that can be disputed through PayPal? Do the rotors really need to be turned? Any input appreciated.

Thanks.

You bought used rotors, and to be truthful, they are used. A little used or a lot used – used is used.

Correct me is I am wrong but I assume that maximum rotor wear is 2.0 mm. New is 29.97 mm. Minimum thickness is 27.97 mm. These rotors have lots of miles remaining.

Minimum thickness is 28.4mm. That leaves about 80% left. Seems like a lot of wear for only 200 miles.

Maybe it was 200 "hard" miles? Not everyone drives like a grandma. Not to be rude, but like above said, you bought used; What did you expect? If you got a great deal on them, then you shouldn't complain. Just my .02

if they are not warped.......i would run them as is........

at worst your gonna go through a set of pads quicker.....pads are pads - as in, replaceable wear and tear item....

rotors as well, but pads firsts!

I think you should move on. I have been buying/selling on ebay for
a long time (since '01), and have run into a number of "misrepresentations"

In the future ask for specifics about rotor thickness of the seller. Leave
as little to the imagination as possible. Can't lie about measurements.

Did the seller have feedback? How much? For how long had he been selling?
Sometimes buyers leave negative comments under positive feedback. Read
the recent history. I think you learned a hard lesson relatively easily.

lgear080 is def right. I've had my ebay account since 98' and have ran into my fair share of misrepresented info.. Like a Ti-89 calculator I needed for college.. I got wholesale information instead.

If it really was 200 "hard" miles (which I asked specifically about) then at that rate the rotors would be trashed with only 800 more "hard" ones. Seems a bit of a stretch. And I don't think I got a particularly great deal on them:

The seller had perfect feedback and had been a member since 04. I suppose your right though, it could have been much worse! Still sucks.

Yeah, used rotors don't seem like that great of an idea. And it sounds like the ones you got aren't that bad. Just my 2 cents though.
