They do kiiiiiiiind of have to prove it, but we all know that with a dealer time is money and they rarely if not ever troubleshoot a problem. They are more or less parts changer's. Regardless of the proof, i've never seen a Z blow a piston under NA, but we've all seen tons of people blow them with FI, so in this case i believe it's his loss.

 

Luckily for me, I know of a really good mechanic who has been in business for 20 years or so. He works and services both of my cars.

 

Magnum Moss law basically says that they have to prove it, but if they prove it (which in most cases they can) you have to pay for the time they spent diagnosing the problem.

 

Well, you didn't see my 2005 base coupe in silverstone then! It blew a rod right through the short block at around 12k miles.

 

wow really? under normal load? no extra added power? what was the cause if you don't mind, i would like to know in case i see one from a customer.

When I purchased the car new, the dealer installed a Nismo cold air intake and Nismo cams. The engine went through an oil consumption replacement (short block replacement only) and I believe that the techs installing it were careless and caused the problem. The serpentine belt came off about 800 miles after the new motor, the throttle position sensor went out, the throw out bearing and clutch went bad around 6000mi, and the engine blew up less than an oil change after the replacement.

 

ohh man well you cant use this as a fault. from the work done by the dealer is why this happened. Im talking about a normal non touched engine so far that i've seen or heard of has not blown a rod to my knowledge.

 

We have a Greddy TT Z that we are working on right now, lol.

Don't know exactly if its warranty work or not but I did see the motor get pulled out of it.

What does that have to do with warranty of a turbo'd Z? From the way it sounds you don't and your bitter because of it.

Anyway, I think they should spend the time to see if the turbo actually did cause the rear seal to go. I don't see how the turbo could cause it to go unless an after market oil pump was put in or it was something that was always there and the turbo just made it more noticable.

I'm in for an outcome.

Rear tranny seal. yeah, I still don't see how a turbo can cause it to go. If it was a gear I could see it but more stress on the tranny wouldn't cause the seal to go....atleast in my head.

 

you think im bitter because my Z isnt turbo'd? lol.
i'd rather spend my money on something im going to get money out of it (ie investments)
