Anyone have experience with Nissan rejecting warranty work on a 2006 or any year 350z with a Turbo that is still under warranty. I have a rear transmission seal that is leaking onto the exhaust. The dealer said that Nissan won't honor my warranty due to the turbo. Is there help?

 

try another dealership.

 

take off the turbo....even mod friendly dealers are gonna be iffy

 

In MOST cases, turbo voids nearly all warranty. They try to blame the turbo for any trouble the car has.

On the other hand, they have to PROVE that what you did to the vehicle caused the problem. They cannot suspect nor imply. It has to be proven. Also, to void your warranty, the manufacturer has to provide you notice in writing. A technician at the dealership cannot make that decision and the decision cannot be conveyed verbally to carry any weight.

That is true also, but my point was that he can just keep taking it to a dealership until someone will talk to Nissan about it. He should probably take the turbo off and take the car in. That is, I'm assuming that the repairs would cost more than the labor of uninstall then reinstall of turbos. I may be wrong though.

 

You're ****ed aslong as you have the turbo on. Why would you even expect otherwise?

 

the dealer would say that all the power of the turbo caused (insert problem).....so regardless if it's a leak, cracked axle or etc, they'll never touch it (for they're own liability)

 

Yeah good luck... could file a dispute with Nissan. They should be able to have a service rep come out to the dealer to inspect the vehicle and you can discuss it with them. I've heard of this working out well for people. But you really take a risk going FI.

They have to prove the turbo caused the leak. Other wise your warrenty will stand. No mod can void your whole warranty. With turbo, engine is out of warranty, done, nothing you can do. Tranny however should still be under warranty. GL

 

Don’t see why your claim is rejected. Do you have the OEM cutch and flywheel? How does a power adder adversely effect the transmission?

 

Technically you can't do anything from the plenum down like add a plenum spacer without voiding your warranty...what makes you think that adding a turbo also wouldn't void the warranty.

 

But that voids the engine's warranty, not the tranny. I know it is the same warranty but in different parts. Say you put in a short shifter then you throw a piston, nothing to with one another (and please no one come up with a stupid explanation of how they are related) so the engine is still covered. In this case engine is wouldn't be but tranny should be.

They call it a drivetrain warranty to include both. Besides that, the additional HP and torque from a turbo IMPACTS the tranny directly. Not trying to be an ***...just trying to point out what will typically void a warranty.

**** that doesnt matter either...i had a short circuit in my car wiring a year after i changed out the radio...they had no proof what caused the problem which they stated on the paperwork. but it got rejected on warranty caused i changed the radio out..they said it was my fault
