Default Hood Sensor and Door ajar light

I have noticed that when either door or hatch is open the door ajar indicator lights up. It doesn't light up if the hood is popped. I know my sensor is working since I tested the factory alarm and it does sound if you pop the hood after it's armed. Can anyone confirm that theft protection is the only function of this sensor?

I have the same question...I just did my engine grounding kit and had to move the hood sensor bracket to install one of the ground wires. I was worried that it was not working properly since when the hood is open there are no idiot lights popping up on the dash. Does anyone else have any input on this?

Funny you mention it....since that is why I was asking this question. I too started to wonder after installing the grounding kit. Thought I might have pulled too hard on one of the sensor's wires. Anyway, the alrarm will sound if you arm the car, wait 30 seconds and then pop the hood. No dash light though. The manual specifically states that the light is for the two doors and the hatch. It does not mention the hood...so I am not going to worry about it anymore.

Default my z has no hood sensor

I just found out that my new z has no hood sensor when
I tried to confirm the grounding kit installation.

I guess that when my hood is popped, the alarm will not sound at all.

I would bet you are correct. You can always try, see what happens, and then let us know.

I tried it and as expected, the alarm won't go off whe the hood is popped.
I guess that the sensor is eliminated to cut down the cost.
