Give the 350Z time to be eclipsed by the 370Z; there are a million on the road right now, so it really isn't exclusive enough to be a collectors car. There will be a point when the resale value drops enough to allow anyone to get the car. Eventually though, once the 16 year olds wreck enough and the mad tyte drifters run enough into the walls, the 350Z numbers will decrease quite steadily, and finding one in pristine shape will be more difficult. Once the numbers drop off dramatically, then you can start talking about the legacy.

But to us car guys, the legacy is already instilled. It brought Nissan back from the brink, enough said. Also, I think that there will be a huge enthusiast following with this car well into the future due to the enormous growth of online communities like this. More people know about the car, and those people have connected in a way that previous "cult followings" couldn't.

Say what negatives you will about the Z; you can buy a 2003, slap some nice wheels on it, and have a decently performing reliable sports car that will turn heads like crazy for $15~$18k.

Some might not consider this a positive, since there is not much in the way of exclusivity when teenagers can afford them, but it is a damn sexy car for being so affordable.
