What will it take to compare to a 500hp Evo8?

WOW z's are expensive to mod.lol.
Im so glad i didnt have to do a built motor in my evo. It just confuses me a little that the Z engines are bigger, yet cant handle as much power stock. But i guess they were designed differently. I can only imagine the difference in turbo lag of a Z vs evo. My evo spools up at 4,000 with the bb 50 trim.
So pretty much Im looking at, AT LEAST $30k to get a 350z to run with the evo?
Now on the highway, lets say 50-170mph, a z with the same power to weight ratio as an evo, would still beat the evo at those speeds, correct? due to the gearing? Or is the Z more of a bottom end car?

but, honestly 20k is a closer bet imo, if you know about cars and research and shop around the net for good prices, maybe even some used stuff here and there, plus a good quality shop that wont charge an arm and a leg you might be around the 20k range. now if you take it to your local speed shop and tell them you want the motor built and tt'd to run 600 hp, and to just send you the bill when its done, then on that hand its 30k easiliy because theyll obviously mark everything up. jmo...

you have to keep in mind that mitsubishi "technically" built your evo motor from the factory, everything has been upgraded to handle the high boost from stock, thats why you dont have to build your engine when turning up the boost, until you want to get 600+ power or so.
Nothing has been upgraded in the engine to allow it to handle high boost... it's stock. It comes like that.
Also, 550 to the wheels is about the safe limit for stock-internal Evos, and even then it's still recommended to upgrade the rod bolts.
It's just the overall design of the engine that gives the stock 4G63 the advantage over the stock VQ when boosted.

We've got a car here that laid down 763 rwhp on race fuel and 603 rwhp on pump. That invoice on that ride stands at about $44k right now but that includes some suspension parts, installing a diff, and a carbon triple disc clutch. Plus a lot of other goodies.
The basics of it are a Z1 built long block, JWT C2 Cams, Ferrea valvetrain, and APS Extreme TT kit, with Haltec EMS.

im sure you probably know what your talking about, so i wont debate but im almost positive that ive read different things about the evo engine having upgraded internals, that 2.0 they use is na in some cars, so your telling me they just strapped on the turbo and shipped them to the dealers? i was seriously considering the new ralliart until i read the reviews about it being a boat and handling worse than the gts, but even they were talking about it having the same evo engine (they mentioned the better components than na) with a smaller turbo and such. you know more than me obviously since you own an evo i assume, will you post some info about the engine? just act like i cussed you out and called you names about im right and your wrong, hehe, bury me with the right info! engine codes and all!!!
The Evo that the OP has and we're talking about has a 4G63t in it. The Lancer does not use any variant of the 4G63. Now with the new Lancers, they DO share the 4B11 with the Evo X. The 4B11t is made specifically for boost, so you were right on that.
PS: For a few thousand more, you can get an Evo X instead of the Ralliart.

all's i know is that my GF's 06 Evo ix is faster than my Z
But it's one hell of a fun car to drive. I'd keep the EVO and just buy a z for daily cruising. that is what she did. 05 4 runner limited as a daily, and the EVO's a track/ put yo $ where ur Mouth is kinda car. haha.

I was thinking about the Z for a few reasons.
1.The biggest being the fact that its a larger engine, therefor, much less/no turbo lag. Thats a big thing right there. Ive never been one to complain about turbo lag, but having less lag would be nice.
Thats probably the main reason, plus with the bigger engine i thought that HIGH HIGH power numbers were easily attainable. I also think it would be much nicer at 60mph+ than the evo.
I have always been, and will ALWAYS be, a power>looks kind of guy. Ill never get a rice spoiler or a body kit. I used to own a 91 talon, i couldnt care less how it looked, to me, power/speed is far more important than looks. Id rather make an 11 second pass t hen with a car show anyday.
Someone said something about if i want speed, stay evo, if i want fun, go Z, could someone please explain the reasoning behind this statement for me?
My evo weighs 3300lbs with me in it. No roll cage yet

I currently have a heavily modified Evo 8 which has just under 500hp at the wheels and runs a low 11 second 1/4 mile. Im thinking about switching over to a Z. What would it take in order to make the Z comparable to the Evo? Im not looking for a set up where i would be stretching the limits to get it there.
How much power can the Stock motor handle? I know its much larger than the Evo's, but can it handle the same amount of power before needing forged internals? Also, what is a rough estimate for the cost of building a 350z that would run right with my Evo?

I can only speak from exsperience so if you or anyone else doesnt like what I write please keep it to yourself! I ordered my car brand new 2 yrs ago with the intentions of making serious power with an absolutly beautiful, outragously sporty design, that isnt very common around me! The z is just that! I wanted a fast car (which I know stock evo's and STI's are) but I wanted something that when people saw it they would be in awh! As car guys/girls we know what an STI/EVO/SRT4 is! But most people just look at them as normal everyday cars! And normally they are bought kinda for that reason! But to get to your question.
I built a strong Greddy Twin turbo, stock block car that has put down 456 RWHP at 9psi on AAM's dyno! Now I am not going to lie and say thats all that I put into it! I put alot of items on this car to hit that hp mark! Here is a list of items that I put on the car to hit that mark! I will tell you that I do not run @ 9psi all the time! That would be stupid! But at the push of a button I have it! If you can run your car all the time on a stock motor and hit 500hp. Keep your EVO. It cannot be done with a VQ! I think I am right at the limit with a stock blocked VQ. I hope this helps in your decision! Robert

There are a few different routs. I chose to go with a little smaller turbo, but run meth injection.
Ummmmm im not possitive really. MUCH less than 30k, thats for sure.
