Default an all too familiar story....

i was driving home last night from oktoberfest, and some 17-18 yo girl side swipes my my car...

mirror dangling by only wires, front fender dented and scraped, door scraped, front fascia scraped, wheel scuffed.. not horrible damage to any of it, but it just got a lot of stuff.. i wanted to call the cops and make a police report, but her dad asked if it would be OK to not call the cops. typically i would have, but i drank about 4 beers at oktoberfest and was paranoid the cops would suspect something, it was around 11pm as well. so for being a dumb *** i wasn't able to get a police report, but my alternative option scared me. this is relatively nice area so its not something that concerns me too much. yet

I'm pretty sure that in most states, if there is an accident reported to insurance, a police report is required. Wouldn't want you to find out in six months that your license has been suspended.

the insurance lady didn't make it sound like an issue not having a police report. i hope this to be the case.

OP... so let me get this straight you had 4 beers but, believe the young SOBER woman driver caused the accident???? IF I was the father I would have insisted the POLICE would be called & haul your stOOPide drunk a$$ off to jail for endangering the safety of the law abiding community.

Sorry grandpa, I enjoy drinking a few beers on the weekends. I'm not the maniac driving 160mph in a 35 zone so wasted I can't see the road. I had four beers from 5:00-10:30 when the accident ocurred. It doesn't take much to be over the limit. I'm responsible, was abiding by the speed limit, driving in MY lane when the girl veered over and hit ME. When she jumps out of the car apologizing and saying she missed her turn and didn't see me when she cut in my lane, that pretty much sums up who's fault it was, dont yeah think?

So thanks for your concern, but I'm a big boy and can handle myself.

Have a good day

Was my initial thought as well.
Drinking and driving...

But it does sound like the girl was in the wrong. so to the OP I say your lucky that the dad/girl are going to do as they said they would.
I always call the cops on wrecks....insurance often has an issue w/ no police report. more trusting than me....but good luck all the same

Not a good idea to call the cops when you are drunk.

Stop calling other Grandpa... you sound like child rigth now.... Don't drink and drive period.

If you "sobber test" is I can see the road = I can drive... you are stupid.

The original post wasn't to argue about my 'drinking and driving', everyone is so innocent im sorry I didn't realize I was posting this on MADD.

no where in my post did i say anything about me being DRUNK, i said i had a few beers that night and didn't want to take any chances with being questioned from the police etc.

The guy was being a douche to me thats why i called him grandpa, lighten up everyone.. im sure we all have better thing to do than argue on a message forum? right? be happy, its monday tomorrow

Although you may not have been drunk, you were concerned about being questioned. IF you did not smell like beer, you would have a police report.

Hope it all works out for you. Could be a pricey fix due to the sheer number of panels she hit.

Can't a guy go out, have a few, and celebrate Oktoberfest without some teenager deciding it might be fun to "bump" into you?
