Default Trying to change my frayed cloth seats to leather... Dealer not willing

I brought my car to the dealer last week to check out my frayed cloth seats. The service manager took a look at it & said he would call nissan. He called me back that day & said it was covered under warranty & they would replace the cloth. I then asked if i could switch to leather & I would pay the difference. He said NO WAY nissan would never do that not even attemping to look into it for me. I then called nissan myself & they said they would look into it for me. I called back a couple of days later & they said it can be done..
I then called the service manager back & told him it was approved they can do it. He didn't sound to happy & said he would call nissan. He called me back 15 minutes later & said nissan made a mistake that it wasn't approved & they can"t do it.
Man was I pissed!!! After a brief argument I called nissan back & they said they can't authorize it, it's a dealer decision. Now this is a dealer that I've bought 3 z's from, my parents just bought an altima & I always recommended them very highly. Next I called the owner of the dealership & explained everything to him, He said he would look into it. Later that day he called me & said they could not do it, it's a warranty issue & they have to fix the cloth.

I did a search but could not find anything on this, but i know I read that dealers have worked out a deals for this..

you have cloth... thats all they are obliged to replace I guess. if you want leather, have them redone in leather, there are lots of places that can do that for you.

I just figured if it's under warranty to take the frayed cloth off & put new cloth on, they could put the leather nissan is offering on & I would gladly pay the difference.

The problem is, that the "difference" will be A LOT. The dealer only gets paid minimally to do warranty work. To change the cloth on the seats would be, what, maybe 1-2 hour job? That amounts to about $130 for the dealer. Aftermarket leather would be about $800 maybe $900?

I'm willing to pay a lot, even if the leather is 800.00 or 900.00 I think they should knock the 130.00 off the price of the leather.

I'm going through the same thing w/my dealer. They are willing to do it but state that the cost will be $999 for single color or $1099 for the 2 tone. I think that's high, I'm willing to hear other opinions of that price.

Are they taking anything off of that price, since your covered under warranty for your frayed cloth? My dealer told me leather installed is 975.00 thats full price. It doesn't matter 1 color or 2 tone.
