Default have you driven a 330xi in the snow?

Just curious, because the "awd" system in the 3 series is a joke. One of my good friends has one and I'm not sure I'd trust that car to get me around in a ne winter any more than I'd trust my z.

Also, if you just need a car for winter duties why not pick up an old truck to get you around, rather than an '03?

Actually the 325XI and the 330XI are both a better economical choice than the 350z. Let's see now I have a 03 350z & a 03 Mitsubishi Outlander LS AWD combined that's about $55,000 in cars in one year. If I would have bought either BMW since they both are already AWD I could have sold my SUV and just had 1 car payment. Instead I have 2 car payments a month and I can't afford to get rid of my SUV because of my climate.

I noticed you live in Texas, well I'm pretty sure you don't get much snow there. Needless to say where I live my Z will be in storage for the majority of the winter, and I won't be getting to work without a 4 wheel or all wheel drive vehicle. Also if you look it up the 325XI is about the same price as a mid level 350z, granted the 330XI costs about $42,000 though

not necessarily, from my point of view when u fork out at least at the minimum $30K for the vehicle, it would be nice to be glanced at ones a while. I am sure the Z owners here at least can give me that much.

I can't comment on whether the 3 series AWD is good or not as I haven't ever driven one. I believe it's a 38% FWD 62% RWD all time AWD system that provides additional power to the wheels with the most traction in situations where a certain wheel or 2 lose traction. My SUV has 50/50 all time AWD and also provides additional power to the wheels with the most traction in slippage situations. So it's possible that my SUV would have been a better AWD vehicle overall than the BMW, but I doubt it's AWD system is so bad that it would be akin to driving a RWD car like the Z in the snow.

As for why I didn't buy a beater for the winter instead of a 03 SUV? Well that answer is very very simple, I already owned the SUV when I bought my Z. So it wasn't a matter of buying the SUV for the Z, it was a matter of buying the Z and keeping the SUV or buying the BMW and selling the SUV. Regardless I love my Z so it's not like I'm saying I would rather have the BMW I'm just saying I would rather have 1 car payment and a sunroof lol

Default Z/G35

I have a Brickyard Touring with the Frost leather and 5AT. I think it is drop dead gorgeous and one the best looking cars on the road and I love it.

That said, I would trade it for a G35C in a heartbeat. Why? Not because I'm old(I am, 59), but because I can't place my self in any position in the driver's seat w/o my right leg contacting the steering wheel. The steering wheel is too LOW! Nothing else about the car would make me trade, but I know for a fact the G35 wheel doesn't get in my way.

It is not as good looking, IMO, nor as fast, you can't get a brickyard Z anymore and the G35 never had the color. I won't do it because I would lose a fortune and I still love the looks and drivability of the Z. But, I have to face facts and the steering wheel issue is potentially dangerous. I have been too slow hitting the brakes several times because of it and that is no good, I and my wife could be dead if I got caught out trying to brake for a hazard and not being able to hit the brake pedal clean.

All it would have taken was for Nissan to provide about 2"s of telescoping or elevation to keep me, and others, out of trouble.
