Default 2003 350z, things to watch out for

Hello there,

I'm new to the 350 forums but am not new to other forums. Recently got rid of my Tiburon V6, was a good car and blast to drive but now i'm taking a step up.

Is there anything I should look out for on a 350z base 6-speed? I'm looking at one tomorrow with almost 100k miles on it and the guy claims to have done the full service at 89k and that the car runs flawlessly. I'm going to go test drive it tomorrow and if you guys have any suggestions do let me know. I need a reliable dd.

Also how long is this stock clutch rated till assuming that I keep it under 3-4k shifting. Oh and do all models, even base, have cruise control?

I've discovered the tire issue and some transmission problems but neither were found using the search function, just google. It's a broad topic I believe.

Thanks anyway for the warm welcome.

Base does not have cruise control.

The best thing you can do is take the car to a mechanic you pay & trust for an inspection. It will be the best 100 bucks or so you will ever spend.

i recently about an 03 with only 8k miles....pretty damn low for an 03...

So far i have no issues. I keep reading tranny problems, tire feathering, and window motor failure.

I guess its a ticking bomb right now then as the miles stack up

I am selling my 03 with 34k miles. I had transmission problems, but warranty covered everything and changed it out with no question for a brand new one. Im only asking 14.5..

IF you dont mind, how much is the guy asking for his with that many miles?

My front tires are wearing more on the insides, and my Bose CD player skips like no tomorrow. Other than that my '03 Touring is awesome at 89k miles.

I just bought an 03 with 70k. I have the window grease problem and the transmission is a little bit of a pain as you have to be really firm shifting into 3rd and 5th. but its nothing that would make me regret buying the car. A car is a car; and Every car has something. Just make sure you check the most important things... as long as the engine, body, and frame are good, you can deal with fixing everything else along the way. I have always been a fan of spending less money for a used older model in good condition and keeping that money in my pocket. From my experiences, you would be hard pressed to find a totally unreliable nissan no matter what year you pick.

I hope you weren't applying for mod status. See, sites are about welcoming new people, not about chasing them away. Especially "for profit" sites.
no0B move.

OP, you'll also have to make sure the fuel filler recall was done and have the window streak (not motor) issue resolved. There is an entire thread (several) dedicated to the differences between models.

Now use search like you should have done when you walked in here

Thanks everyone, this really helps. As soon as the guy receives his title I will become a proud owner of a 2003 Red Z with 52,000 miles. Shocks, lowering springs, b&m shifter (BOO!!! ****in rattling!), hyper medalion exhaust, hotchkins sway bar (boo dead end links!), and 18" motegis (boo ugly rims!) LoL. But it's low miles and a great price so i'm not complaining.

I do notice that I have the window streaking problem already. This car will require a little tlc before it looks nice.

Again thanks for all of the help guys, and this community is HUGE
