Default My trip to Nissan Services.

This first paragraph doesn't really matter, I'm just ranting about the poor customer service.

So I just got back from my local Nissan Dealership where I visited their services department. First of all they helped every customer before me, even the ones who came in after I did. Probably because I'm a teenager and no one takes teenager's seriously. But when I finally talked to the guy I told him that I wanted to bring my Z in so I could have my transmission looked at because it has a slight grind in 3rd and 5th gear. To the best of my knowledge I thought that this was a recall part because of the vast amount of 03-05 Z's with the problem, so I'd like someone to correct me if I was wrong. He stated that I should "learn my facts" before coming to the dealership, and that this is only a posted service bulletin and if in fact my tranny was grinding I would need to pay for parts and labor, and this wouldn't matter because my Z is out of it's factory warranty any ways. Regardless I set up an appointment for next Wednesday to get it checked out. Finally when I was walking out he said "Take it easy in your dad's Z junior."

Now about the customer service, I thought it was extremely poor, I know I don't look like the typical Z owner, but personally I think if I'm going to be paying them for a service, then at least treat me with a little bit of respect.

Now the main thing I want to know is, is the tranny grinding only a service bulletin and cannot be recalled and fixed with no charge to me?

Take your money, and business elswhere.
If they treat you like that before service,
imagine how they will treat you after service.
Heck, think of what type of service you'll get!
Go to another dealership...sheagles suck.

"Take it easy in your dad's Z junior" ? The guy has to be a complete jerkoff to say something like that. Kind of thing you would hear from someone on the street but not from a Nissan service rep.

why didn't you yell at the guy after he said that? why walk out and let him feel the way he did. I would have made a complete fool out of the guy and scared away any potential customers that were present.

they are far from the only people that can check out your car. you don't have to go there. I wouldn't trust them to work on your Z after that.

I didnt feel a need to argue with the guy, and i felt like i had made a fool out of myself thinking that the Transmission was on recall haha. but im going to head down with my dad and hopefully they'll take him seriously. I doubt they treat all of their customers that way so we'll see what happens monday.

It isn't just the Nissan dealers that treat young people poorly. My daughter and her fiancee (now husband) went to a VW dealer in Springfield, MO to buy a VW Jetta. Basically, the sales person told them to go down to the Kia dealer where they could buy a car they could afford. It's amazing that both of them are 25, my daughter has a Masters in Accountancy and is a CPA and her fiance (husband) has a Masters Degree in Microbiology. Both work and are making a very good salary. The sales person just assumed that since they were young, they just couldn't afford a Jetta. Jettas are only $20K cars so I really don't understand his problem.

To make a long story short, they were upset and were not going to return to that dealer. I happened to be in Springfield the following weekend and went around looking at cars with them. We couldn't find anything they liked so I suggested returning to the VW dealer. We went in and asked for a different sales person and lo and behold, they bought the car. The real irony is that the rude salesman had to drive their car from the showroom to the garage to get the car detailed. He knew at that point he had completely blown the deal and someone else got the commission. Hopefully this guy learned his lesson.

Fixed…

Don't let the guy treat you in an unprofessional manner. Call the General Manager and the Owner and describe how you were treated. Explain politely how you will not accept this type of treatment or will take your business elsewhere.

dude no shitting you we rolled up to a VW dealer in a Passat and Jetta, both a few years old, and when we got in, the guy asked my friend (jetta owner) how old he was, and then where he went to school. when he said a local community college here, he straight told him that he couldnt afford a new car and to look elsewhere. not discreet, just straight said it

Sad news for you, the tranny grinding is not a recall.

My tranny was grinding in the 3rd gear (not so much in the 5th gear) pretty noticeably. It was driveable, but it was definitely enough for someone to worry. This happened around 33K miles, and I finally took it in at around 38K miles knowing that I'm still on the warranty and wanted to make sure I have it covered when I take it in.

Took it to the dealership in the morning, got a call in the afternoon, the guy tells me I'm getting a new transmission for free but the car will be at the dealership for 5 days. This is fine with me, knowing that they have to order a new tranny and it takes alot of work to get the tranny out and back in again.

Couple days later, guy at dealership calls me and tell me it was just my clutch that's shot. I'm still going to get a new tranny but I ended up having to pay $1000+ for the new clutch (I think including tax and labor it came out to around $1400.

My suggestion to you is, this is not a recall, and it can just be your clutch. See if you can get a diagnose first on the clutch, then go from there.

And buddy, the guy just couldn't justify that he's such a failure at his job he can never make enough commission to buy himself a Z. You take care of your Z somewhere else who'll respect you for your business.

they may as well ask you to bend over because thats whats gonig to happen being they think its your dads car.... call nissan usa as well as the dealership manager (shop foreman/Service Manager)

and take your buisness elsewhere... people who continue to let dealerships treat them like **** and keep going back is what people at dealers find funny as hell... and when you dont go back or tell the service manager your not going back due to this ... it becomes a bigger impact... the other thing is dealer surveys... if you get one be sure to send it in with a bad rating... ive worked at dealers for the past 5 years (they really do matter)
/end rant
