350Z vs Boxster according to Nissan
The Boxster is a nice car. I drove a Boxster S (test drive). But it has to be the worst value. No tilt wheel, no cd player, PLASTIC rear window, $51K. Um I'll think I'll go take a look at the S2000. Run don't walk out of the dealership.
When I was looking at cars early this year, the Boxster was one of them and I wouln't have been happy with the performance of the non "S" so I would have had to go for the S but at 51K it is hard to justify even for a Porsche or specially because it is a Porsche because I don't think other Porsche owners respect you they would see you as buying a Boxster because you couldn't afford the 911. I am so glad the Z is coming!!!
Hmmmm, Well if they get my damn Z to me, I can do some comparison. I have a 2001 Porsche Boxster S. The whole price/power comparison in my opinion is stupid to bring up to some one that buys Porsche. As for the respect factor, my Boxster S took #1 in the 2000+ 996 (911) & 986 (Boxster) at the Hershey swap meet in 2001, so trust me the 911 guys gave me the respect considering at 80K it's more than a basic 911. I went full out aero kit, speedster humps, nav computer, killer interior trims, the enhance suspension, embroidered crest in the seats, color crest in the wheels, etc, etc. The Boxster S (specially with the enhanced suspesion) being mid engine and light corners like crazy. I got Pirelli P-Zeros gripping the road. It'll out corner the 911 and looks killer with the aero kit and speedster humps. I'll slap up some pics later

have a 2001 Boxster S 6 spd and a 350z in touring auto.
it feels like there's a couple more layers between you and the road in the Z compared to the S. like the difference between a true sports car and a GT...dont mean any disrespect to the Z as the original Z was conceived as a GT.
also have a 2001 E46 M3 and i think the 350Z is VERY close to it in terms of it's feedback/handling/ride. even the thick steering wheel and the way it feels in your hands is very much like the M3.
btw, regards to the boxster vs a carrera..they are basically the same cars..particulary from the drivers seat forward. have driven many carreras and the driving experience is very similar with a slight personal preference for the boxster.

It's nice to hear from someone that has both, although I think the comparison between the Z and Boxster, and the S2000 for that matter aren't adequate, the comparison should really be made when the convertible Z comes out and then a comparison can really be made taking into account reduced body (no roof) on both cars.
