I get mine in Jan. or Feb. of 04. I can't wait yet!!!! First mod I do is get an adjustable camber kit and see if that will ensure I get no feathering! :P

Good idea Grommit ,that should do the trick.

I am getting mine in December, lets hope this so called euro-spec suspension on the 2004s is better so that I don't have to spend money.

Even with the feathering, there is no other sports car in the market that I would rather have. To me, it was the Z or no car at all.

I'm a little newbie when it comes to this stuff and i'm shopping..

The tire feathering issues is what? Does it wear uneven?
Would it be better to order than purchase at a dealership?
I'm buying in February or March, will the 04.5's be available? Should I wait for that?

Default European Suspension/ Feathering problem

Recently spoke to NNA rep (Bianca) she advises that 04 models (7/03) and later have the softer European Suspension System that should eleminate the now infamous feathering problem experienced with 03 models.

She could not answer questions relative to how can Nissan be sure of solving the problem with the new Suspension. She also advised that she is the expert on this issue. Hope she and Nissan are correct. I have an 04 whose birthdate is 7/11/03...

Please keep us posted.
Put about 3500 miles on there as quickly as you can
I'm looking at trading up to an 04 when I get confirmation that the problems are resolved.

Thanks.

I had 3,300 miles on mine, no problems with the exception of a SLIGHT pull to the right which Nissan was going to fix with the replacement f a couple parts, that is, until the car was totalled..

No tranny issues, only got the grease streakes once, no grinds, smooth shifting once broken in, no problems with the seats, tires were fine, gas door never stuck, and so on..

I have a little bit over 2000 miles on my car and shifting from 1st to 2nd gear seems to be smoother now. I also notice the car pulls to the right SLIGHTLY. Not sure if I should take it back to Nissan and have them fix it.

now at 1900 miles.
going into 2nd gear grinds badly. it has been getting progressively worse since about 1500 miles, and now 3rd is starting to do it too. the grinding i've been experiencing is consistant with the descriptions of the '03 z's that got transmission replacements.

any other 04's seeing this?

Had mine 3 weeks, 1900 miles. No real problems, pulls to the right a little, rattle from silver ring around AT shifter, few paint chips on bumper...

other than that, doing great

Angry Z Problems

Anyone have a problem with the seatbelt buckle getting pinched between the door panel and the seat, causing a dimple in the door panel material when you shut the door ???

I have an 04' Roadster and currently have a permanent dimple in my driver side door panel. The passenger side seems to be O.K.

Damn! Maybe I should look to get into an 04?!?

I remember a slew of 1st yr problems. Tranny replaced, window streaks, abnormal noise from right front axle, seat clicking, "ting ting" noises, abnormal wear of cloth seats, etc. This was all before my 1st mod.

I miss every ounce of her though. <sigh>

Default ditto!!!

Ditto on the "really wierd creaking noises" coming from the rear hatch. Sometime I hear it some times I dont. I hope it is only the cold.

Sorry to ruin the encouraging theme of this thread, but my 04 has the dreaded seat clicking issue. Noticed it after about 300 miles or so. The shift from 1st to 2nd can be a little chunky in the morning when it's cold, but smooths out quickly. Otherwise, no other serious problems (not even window grease streaks!).
I'm with you...I'm noticing that I get a 'clunk' going into 2nd every so often....but not often enough to warrant a call to the dealer....yet....sitting at about 475 miles right now. At this point, I think the tranny would just about have to fall out of the car for me to be dissapointed with it....I'm more concerned about how the dealership is going to treat me over the years than anything else. I've read good and bad, so I guess we'll see.

Want 2 C my Z?

3000 miles and some change...My Z has surpassed all my expectations. The only problem I have is a ticking sound that comes from the Homelink/Rear view Mirror. Dealer is replacing it this weekend so it should be all good afterwards!
