Smile No more rocking idle

Ever since I've purchased the Z, I've noticed that at idle, the rpm would waiver up and down. A few people have mentioned this also. While driving to work this morning, I've noticed that the needle is steady. I was surprised. I checked it again at every stoplight. It looks like the issue is gone. I'm at 3500 miles.

Does the grounding kit really work? I'm still thinking about getting one.

My idle sometimes runs smoothly and sometimes runs rough. It depends on the atmosphere (temp and humidity). It also tends to run smoother when I have either the AC compressor running or just the fan running.

i noticed that the grounding kit lowered the idle...and there is no rocking at all. it also seems like the lights are brighter inside...and that there are no glitches or anything. the are no electical blips of any sort. (also, it looks nice...haha).

I'd do it for the looks, but I'm skeptical on the worth electrically. I'd probably try it anyway. Its not expensive...

i installed it with one of my friends and it was super easy to do.

one of my other friends (who is a mechanic and works on all sorts of exotic cars) told me that they are, in fact, useful when it comes to the electronics in the car. i just wonder how useful they are. haha.

I've actually had the grounding kit on for awhile now. Idle used to rock even with the kit, but now it's rock steady.

This reminds me: my idle is fine, but I think the exhaust makes a "heart beat" type thump sometimes. At first I thought it was the engine until I got a buddy to listen. He said it was normal, and it was actually from the exhaust.

I hear this sound with windows down, clutch in at idle
Anyone else notice this? Very faint "thump"

Are you talking about a little burp that's almost like a mini misfire?

I figured it might be a mini misfire from a rich running condition. These engines are designed to run a little rich, so I hadn't thought about it. You might ask the dealer to see if any misfire codes come up on the OBD...

Just noticed the burps and I thought they were something wrong, but every other Z I've listened to has them also.

Get a grounding kit. There is a noticeable difference in smoothness of idle. I wouldn't believe any hp or mpg improvement claims though. It's not THAT good.

I temporarily removed my grounding kit for warranty work purposes at the dealer. I've had random results w/ my idle. After running the car at high speeds and come to a stop, the idle looks constant and doesn't bounce compared to city driving. I'm taking my car to the dealer next week to check the problem.
