Default How do I tell which model Z I have?

Hey, I bought my Z back in June of '08, and they didn't tell me which model it was. It's an '04, I got it used, and no where on the car, or manual book, does it say. Is there a way to distinguish between models?

I got it for $20,000 with 50,000 miles on it, if that helps at all.

Thanks!

I got it from a dealer. It's in excellent condition though. It could have been $18,500 I cant remember, they kept trying to scare me into buying additional warranties and service plans and all that stuff.

Thanks, that link to the noob section helped! I'm pretty sure it's an Enthusiast, matches that best.

Cloth seats, 6 speed, Cruise control, TCS(which sucks), auto dim rearview, aluminum pedals, standard sound, cant think of anything else that's distinguishing about it.

Also, anyone know of any shops around Bergan County NJ, or Rockland County NY, that work on Z's? I plan on doing most of my mods myself, but it's probably good to know my options for the more annoying things, or if I somehow manage to screw up.

I have to agree with Asian Invasion... You definitely got the shaft on this one considering the description you gave, it doesn't seem to be to be one of the higher end models... Now it is time to go burn down the dealership mmmkay...

As long as you are happy with it is all that matters, but yeah, you did pay a lot even if it was fully loaded. I picked up my '06 Grand Touring with 16k miles last year and paid a few hundred less than that.

The only reason I bring it up is to say that I wouldnt recommend you putting much money into it unless you plan to keep it for a while. If you have to sell it in this crappy economy it is going to sell for far less than you paid.

Anyway, regardless of the model, you have a great car and I hope you enjoy it!

(The following is taken from a wiki article. If you feel something is incorrect and/or missing notify the Administrator)

The 3.5 L (3498 cc) VQ35DE is used in many modern Nissan vehicles. It has a bore of 95.5 mm and stroke of 81.4 mm. It uses the same block found in the VQ30DE, but adds variable valve timing. Output ranges from 231 to 302 PS (228 to 298 hp/170 to 222 kW) and 246 to 268 ft·lbf (334 to 363 Nm).

The VQ35DE is built in Iwaki and Decherd, TN. It was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list from 2002 through to 2007. It features forged steel connecting rods, a microfinished one-piece cast camshaft, and Nissan's nylon intake manifold technology. It has low-friction molybdenum-coated pistons and the intake system is a high-flow tuned induction system.

A modified version of the VQ35DE, called the S1, is produced by Nismo (Nissan's motorpsorts and performance division) for the Fairlady Z S-Tune GT. It produces 300 PS (285 hp/220 kW) at 7200 rpm - a higher rev-limit than that of the original VQ35DE. The 350Z GT-S concept has a VQ35DE equipped with a switchable Novidem supercharger, producing around 377 hp (281 kW) with the supercharger switched on. The engine may possibly be referred to as the VQ35DER if the GT-S goes into production.

It is fitted to the following vehicles: North American

· 2001–2004 Nissan Pathfinder (240 hp)
· 2001–2004 Infiniti QX4 (240 hp)
· 2002–2004 Infiniti I35 (255 hp)

I love the car, and the sale is in the past, so I'm not gonna dwell on it. It was Nissan of Bergenfield. I'm going to have it for a while, and I'm starting the modding process shortly.
