Default Which 2004 model is the best value?

I was curious as to what people thought: which model do you think is the best value? I'm talking about the 2004 models assuming any kinks have been worked out of the 2003 models (e.g., the Bose stereo in the 2003 touring). So which is it: base, enthusiast, performance, touring, or track?

Im a biased but Im going with the Base. I don't think much was changed engine and transmission wise. There is a button NAV door instead of pulling it up/down. You get the lights on the vanity mirrors. I read in this post some people had problems with TCS being too sensistive. Also LSD is not all that. VDC I never had and won't miss.

Best value is still Enthusiast tho.

The enthusiast. The base is missing too many things for the $2K price difference. HID lights, CRUISE CONTROL, traction control, aluminum pedal, homelink, limited-slip differential, etc

I couldn't live without cruise and traction control in the midwest is a must. You'll get that money back when you trade it in.

Personally I went with Preformance, but to each his own. I didn't want the leather of the touring...

the 18" wheels fit the Z better than the 17's (IMHO) I have NO problems with the VDC, and I've never had a newer car without an LSD.

The VDC is VERY nice on wet days and I'm also assuming in any possible snow. Just click it off is you don't want it, but in poor weather it's always on to keep me just a little bit safer and keep me under the "limits"

Nothing was changed engine and transmission-wise. All of the engines are the same.

I chose enthusiast because base didnt have the HIDs and cruise control. and I didnt want anything above enthusiast (perf., touring, track) because I knew I was going to get aftermarket wheels, tires, stereo, etc. Why pay for all that when I was simply going to replace it all? Waste of money.

Factory navigation wasnt an option w/ Enthusiast...but I didnt care because I knew aftermarket was an option. So instead of going Touring just to get NAV ($2000 option), I got a CD/DVD stereo headunit and a 7" screen for a total of $625.

So FOR ME..the Enthusiast was the best choice...the most bang for the buck. YOU have to figure out what is best for YOU.

Thanks in advance!

next time... For now, I will explain. The LSD is useful for loss of traction. In cars with an LSD, when a loss of traction occurs the wheel that is spinning will be giving little power and the power will shift to the wheel that is in traction to help regain traction. That's about as much as I know about it.

I agree. IMHO the enthusiast is the best if you want a true “sports car”.

Look what the extra $$ get you over the enthusiast…

Leather seats or the NAV. – Don’t need
The factory 18” wheels/tires. -- IMO, aren’t worth the money. Save your money and buy better aftermarket wheels/tires.
The Bose stereo? --What a joke.

(This isn’t meant to disrespect you Performance/Touring/Track owners)

But the bottom-line? They're all good!

Peace

I decided to get the performance model because I wanted the 18 inch wheels, VDC, and the tire pressure monitor. Besides, If I had bought the enthusiast and got aftermarket wheels, I would risk having them stolen. The 17 inch aftermarket wheels on my integra were stolen within 2 months of owning them, and I live in a very nice area(Eastern Long Island). The dealer-installed leather and my aftermarket stereo system make my performance model a better value than the crappy touring model.

P.S. I think the factory 18" wheels look very nice on the car.
