Default Sept 11... God Bless You All

Two years ago today... all of us were doing our normal daily routine, oblivious as to what was stirring. Within moments, cell phones were ringing, news stations on the internet froze, emails were backing up... life as we knew it came to a halt.

The horrifying photos, video, sounds shook all of us... directly, and indirectly.

I personally didn't know anyone involved in any of these events, but listening to the radio show this morning and hearing again the replay of events I admit I broke down... It was at the moment of the anniversary that did it. To know that an intity wants to attack the very value we stand for kills me.

The luxuries we have, the paths that are available to all of us... this is the foundation of what we have here in the US. More proudly, to know that in this short of time we're already back on our feet and strong.

Where were you two years ago? Dreaming about your Z? I for one was walking out of one of my early classes and received a phone call from my now exs mother to tell me to hurry home and turn on the TV... the horror we shared! When my then gf came in we shared in a long hug thanking for our safety.

To all my friends here at my350z... I want to wish you the best of lives and luck. To those whom went through personally horrors that day I still bless you with my condolences. God bless each and every one of us... and to many years strong that with what we stand true, that we will carry proudly.

I still remember the shock I felt when I was watching the news getting ready for class. I just couldn't believe what was happening--and what was worse, I had to leave my apartment to go to my class (I had an incredibly unforgiving prof). I listened to the radio on the way there, and I watched the TVs in the building until the very last second before class started.

Today is honoring the memory of all those who were lost.

Amen Phoenix.

I actually just visited ground zero for the first time last weekend. I 've been to NYC several times since 9/11, but never felt up to going down there. Finally did, and let me tell you, it was a sobering experience, even after all the cleanup that has taken place. I lost it as soon as I stated reading some of the thousands of messages scrawled onto the walls surrounding the site.

A terrible, terrible day...one we should never forget.

I was on the road when I heard the radio interrupted by the broadcast. I have to drive by an air force base to get home. Nuts seeing everything blocked off.

I was on my way to work and I heard the broadcast on a local radio show and thought it was just a tasteless hoax. I changed stations to the news station on AM radio and they reported the same thing. That was a huge shocker. The second plane hit right before I got to work. What a day that was. I hope we never have another one...

I was home asleep, from a late night flight, awoken by my father on the phone, who was making sure I was ok.

Now I'm getting ready to depart Atlanta for Newark and a short nites layover there.

My parents were in Honolulu and supposed to be boarding a plane back to Chicago that very morning. I was worried sick that they'd be on a hijacked flight. It turns out they were offloaded from the plane just in time and they ended up being stuck in Hawaii for the downtime with US air travel. Not a bad place to be stuck, if you ask me. It was scary, though.

I had just flown back from Guadalajara, Mexico. Had been in a business trip to my companies contract manufacturer. Woke up the next morning to my cell phone ringing. It was my sister, she said "turn on the TV". I said "okay, what channel?" She said "any channel". That's when I started to get a sinking feeling in my stomach.

George Bush wants $87B to fight the war on terror. That is $290 per person. He's got my $290.

But I have to respond to this:
"George Bush wants $87B to fight the war on terror. That is $290 per person. He's got my $290"

George Bush is fighting against Iraq, when it had nothing to do with the 911 events... and as good as patriotism is or can be, i don't agree with his actions.
you might feel a little different if they flew a plane into the CN tower and killed 3,000 people in your country

did you have to start an argument?

jckolnturn - you had a nice return to his comment.

anyway, i was visiting my girlfriend at the time and she woke me up before she left for class...and i sat watching tv the whole day calling all my friends in NY to make sure they were all ok. i was supposed to fly to chicago that weekend...needless to say i never made it out there. the CIO from the company i was working at was in one of the planes...and i knew people in the towers. we will never forget that day...no matter how much it hurts.

I'm working in NYC right now and the city seems so much somber than most other days. No hustle or bustle and people being respectful (for the most part).

On September 11th, I was at school in Pittsburgh (driving to class around 9:00 am) when I heard the news on the radio. At that time I didn't think much about it, as they didn't make it into a huge deal. Then in my global economic class I heard about the Pentagon. (Still my professor made us stay for the class and take a quiz!) I go down to the cafetria and watch the South Tower collapse and find out about the ho. Rumors were swirling about planes being highjacked from Pittsburgh. At that point I was never so scared in my life. I ran out, grabbed my girlfriend and was doing 40 mph, going airborne in a TIGHT university garage.

Little did we know later that the flight that crashed in PA flew almost directly over Pittsburgh. The guy who said "Let's Roll" was from the town next to me, Cranbury, NJ....and we have memorials for people that we lost in my town.

This morning....and every morning, I take the bus in from NJ and drive on 495 to the Lincoln Tunnel, which gives you a spectacular view of NYC. I used to look at the WTC everyday when I interned and when I came back from school on Thanksgiving break in 01, I could barely recognize the city. Now, the empty skyline serves (to me) as a reminder of the people we lost and the rebuilding of tomorrow.

God Bless all of the victims and families of 9-11.

Flight 93

I don't understand why the Government isn't using much more of it's resources in capturing Bin Ladin. Bin Ladin is threating worse things to come and everytime I hear something like that, my commute becomes more stressful and I question why I work in NYC. Bush needs to take some more action to get Bin Ladin before something worse happens!
