Default Replacing Transmission. Hurt Value??

I have on 06 base with 18k miles on it and I was having problems and hearing a clunk when shifting from 1st to 2nd on the first drive of the day. I just heard back from the dealer and they said the Syncro's are damaged and they are replacing the tranny under warranty.

Is getting a new transmission going to hurt the value of my car when I go to re-sell it?

I would think that it either wouldn't matter or might slightly improve the value, since you now will have 18k less miles on a newer transmission.

If the transmission is broken I suppose it would increase value. I mean what would you pay for a car with a broken transmission?

It's obviously better then a broken transmission. I was wondering if it would have better or worse value then an identical vehicle with the original transmission.
It doesnt really matter anyway since its getting replaced. Hopefully it will run smooth and shift like Butta when I get it back. I"ll keep you posted.

My trasmission has gone downhill within the last week, it still works fine i just feel the gears when i shift(not in a good way). I have a powertrain warranty(7 years on my 2003) and am going to take it in. My question for you is how willing were they to replace your tranny? I have all my oil changes at the dealership and all documentation of it.

I work for a dealership and if you told me the tranny had to be replaced at 18k then I think you have dogged this car and hurts the value....so when trading I would keep that information to myself.

hmmmm, I have some 'stickiness' when shifting 1st to 2nd also. Sometimes a slight kick-back at only 37K miles , and also an 06 Base. Makes me wonder??? I have twiced mentioned this to the dealer. Maybe I will push harder now as I think the sycnhros are going to go eventually. At least my gut tells me this. I had clutch replaced yeaterday and really stressed to them to test the shifting during road test. They said it was 'fine'. I don't believe them. New clutch is a vast improvement.
