I did that a handful of times as well when I first got the car, but I have very fast reflexes so the split-second I felt the car start to surge before the clutch was even out it was back down to the floor... Going from my passat to the z it was just so much different, it's much closer together and I found it far too easy to go into second from third, seemed like the same throw to go from third to fourth in my passat. I assuming since you registered in Feb you are new so you will get used to it, for now just try and be careful and feel your way into it, and try to be quicker on getting that clutch back in when you make a mistake

Is it just me or I hear the PU$$Y coming out of both the driver and passenger? Now that is funny. I can see misshift can be really bad for FWD since you need it to steer.
BTW, I have never MS from 3rd to 2nd. I think it might be due to inexperience. I think it's because you grip the stick and not just push from the 12 o'clock position of the stick. If you did that, you shouldn't be going diagonally into 2nd. As for MS, I'm more paranoid from 5th to 6th. I keep thinking about it will go into Rev... and that would be total nightmare.

i miss shifted in my BMW before, no big deal just take it out of gear as quick as possible, it does a number on the engine tho, my girlfriend told me last night actually that her uncle miss shifted from 3rd to 2nd and blew his motor, he was driving a civic.
This is my first manual, and I never miss-shift. How do you miss-shift from 3rd to 2nd? If you're changing to 4th, you just go straight down. Accidently shifting to 2nd requires pulling left and down. Your shifts should be more precise.:-p

Learn to shift correctly.. 1st gear to 2nd should be pulling towards you, 2nd to third should be having your middle finger pointing at 20clock and pushing up.. ect..
3rd to fourth you shouldnt be pistol gripping it, but put your palm on top of the shifter with your middle finger aligned to the shifter and pull straight down..
I've never misshifted using this technique. (Knock on wood)
