Default What should I (did you) pay for a 2004 base

As a Mitsu loyalist I've given up on finding an Evo that isn't marked up $$$$$$! So now it's the Z. I don't need any bells or whistles, just a 287hp VQ35, 6spd MT, and a gas pedal. What should I pay? What did u pay? Does anyone know what invoice is? Any tips on first time buying? Thanks.

I paid sticker but they gave me $1,000 for my trade-in that should have been worthless, accessories for at cost, $50 gas, and free oil changes.

I don't know what the market is like in your area, but here in N. Cali you can get one at invoice or a few hundred over. The dealership where I purchased my car from recently advertised a DB Base for $500 over invoice.

This really depends on your area tho. If the car isn't as easy to come by in your area, don't expect to get it for this cheap.

Paid 26488 for my 2004 base..MSRP was 27280. That's with destination. No other add ons. Got it at CARMAX. do a search at Carmax.com to see if there is a Nissan dealership in your area.

Wow, I ordered back in May '02 and paid MSRP. Came out to be $28900 I think, with taxes and tags.

You could consider getting a used Z. There's quite a few floating around out there, and you would save a few thousand dollars. If you go this route, inquire about the build date. I think the first about 4000 Zs (build date up to ~08/02), some of them have synchro problems, which make 3rd grind, and the transmission eventually needs replacement. Good luck.

Mise100 posted in June that he picked up a Black Base for $25,500, he lives in the NY/NJ area. I also spoke with another member who bought a CS Base from a guy in Mc Allen, Tx. for $25, 150, his salesman was Eddie Zamora, 956-631-6666.

If your willing to use the Nissan.Com website and email their Internet Sale Mgrs requesting competitive bids and travel to pickup your vehicle you should be able to easily save between $1,700 to $2,000 on a base.

Happy Hunting
